Earlier in the week, I wrote about the red wedding dress trend. Well, even if you’re not sure about going into the colorful wedding attire arena whole hog, you can still get in on the action with a bright pair of pumps. Let’s be honest, there’s basically nothing sexier than a red pair of peep toes, even more so when they’re peeking out from underneath your wedding gown.

To be truthful, I haven’t heard much about the Nina Ricci line in a long time. Don’t they make that perfume L’air du Temps or something? Anyways, when I saw their sale on Gilt, I basically shrugged, but clicked anyways. And boy oh boy, did I make the right decision. As far as I’m concerned, these are basically the best bridal shoes that look like bridal shoes but aren’t really bridal shoes ever. Did you catch that? Nevermind. Catch these:

Lovely, lovely, lovely. They’re silver satin, perfect to go with a silver or white gown. They have a rounded toe AND a platform, how often does that happen? That means that you’re toes will have a little room and you’ll get all the height for only a fraction of the pain. Plus, check out that heel. It was made for royalty. I used to be really dismissive towards Swarovski-encrusted items. Until this winter, when I visited the Swarovski store in Rockefeller Center, and saw all the crazy, ornate, and fabulous things that can be made out of the famous Austrian crystals. So, forget every gaudy crystal encrusted cell phone you’ve seen some socialite bimbo carrying, and try to look at these shoes with fresh eyes.

Bling bang boom. Wow. These are some serious bridal shoes. And while I am not always a fan of the heavily adorned, I think that these Aruna Seth Cerise wedges are elegant and sculptural. And a wedge, which makes all those hours in the reception line seem a little more do-able for a lot of women. Notice how even the inside of the bows are lined with Swarovski rhinestones! If the ivory sation doesn’t suit your taste, there’s plenty in the Cerise line, including a pair in snakeskin!

Allow me to explain to you my theory of bridal shoe shopping. Finding bridal shoes that are a)stylish and b)affordable is like finding that metaphorical old needle in a haystack. It’s easy to find a great pair of shoes for over $500, but when it comes to economizing, nothing says unnecessary expenditure like $500 shoes that you’ll only wear once. And with a lot of the discount lines, you get what you pay for: shoddy quality at a cheap price. But, thankfully, Steve Madden has come along to bridge the gap between style and budget consciousness with his new line of bridal shoes. Most of them are super classic, but some of them, like the Cemeliaa above have a little added edge. In this case, it comes in the form of an elegantly covered platform in knotted silk satin.
