I just discovered this much more affordable Burberry snood at Bloomingdales and I can’t wait to try it on.  The functional snood can be worn as a a hood or a scarf, which provides warmth for the head and the neck and solves the problem of removing your hat everytime you go indoors.  It is such a chic look and would be a great gift!

Affordable Burberry Snood

I’m on the fence about this actually. On one hand they’re all very convenient and sometimes you do need to go hands-free whilst running errands or even shopping and they’re also great for travel. However, their small size is limiting. Unless of course, you only carry around the bare necessities, in that case, you’re golden.

I checked out the Saks website and pulled a few examples for us to mull over…

What do you think? Novelty or classic?  What I like about these are the adjustable shoulder straps, they allow you to use them as mini shoulder bags which is helpful when you’re going out.  For example, the silver Marc Jacobs bag can be used as an evening bag if you shorten the straps.

Honestly, I have a few bags that are about the size of these (my LV Damier Azur pochette immediately comes to mind) but I use them when we travel or as cosmetic bags to place into my bigger bags. In the grand scheme of my handbag collection, they’re minor players but they are useful.

Missoni Rib-Knit Wool-Blend Snood $205

What is a snood? Traditionally, dating back to the 1860’s, a snood was a hairpiece that wrapped around the top of the head and under the hair to the nape of the neck.  This circular wrap contained a netted or cloth sack that held the hair.  The shape of the piece was similar to the nets that are worn in the food service industry for sanitary purposes.  Today the modern snood is a tube-shaped thick piece, oftentimes made of wool, that is worn scrunched up around the neck like a gator or pulled over the head like a hood.

I have seen snoods worn by models on the runway, but this is the first time that I think the style will make it to the general public.  Net-A-Porter currently has a collection of gorgeous wool and cashmere snoods by Burberry and Missoni.  If these two trend-setting fashion houses are designing snood styles for Fall 2009, then I predict that many other designers will soon follow.

Burberry Giant Check Snood $295

I love the snood because of its versatility and style.  It looks fabulous and elegant as a bunched up looped scarf or a loose-hanging hood.  When worn as a hood it provides warmth for the neck, ears and top of the head and protection from rain or snow.  I get really excited about new fashion terminology so the snood is definitely going to my obsession this Fall and Winter!

Snood Is The Must-Have Accessory for Fall

This season there are so many chic styles to choose from, let’s take a look at the black and charcoal coats…

Chloe Cashmere Coat ($2995) – Charcoal is a wonderful alternative to black and like black, it goes with any colour. The beauty of this coat is the dramatic over-sized spread collar and 3/4 sleeves.

Armani Satin Faille Coat ($990) – An adorable and very feminine coat with long bell sleeves and spread collar.

All of styles above can be purchased at Bergdorf Goodman. Any one of these lovely coats would make great gifts for someone you love.  A great looking coat is makes a wonderful investment because the style is timeless and the fabric and colours can be worn year after year.

Of course these are a bit on the high-end (read: expensive) side. If these are beyond your gift-giving budget, focus on the style and cut of the coats and look for similar styles within your price point.

It may just be time, tropical friends, to get a rain coat for the car! This Burberry Single Breasted Rain Slicker makes me want to do a rain dance so I can wear this coat every single day! It’s super cute! Everyone will stop and stare at the bright red color. It is about 32 inches long from the shoulder to the hem. The extra two front pocket detail is an even more extravagant reason to wear the coat. It is $537 on sale at Sak’s Fifth Avenue at the moment.

Burberry and Athleta Plaid Bucket Hats

The Burberry Metallic Leather Hobo is a great way to give your outfits a little edge. Notice the Dark Nickel shade of the leather isn’t jarring nor does it look cheap. This bag would make a great alternative to your basic black bag. It’s neutral enough to go with most of your outfits and it’s not at all boring.

What I love most about this hobo is the slouchy factor. I love structured bags but there’s something to be said about soft, smoosh-y ones.  Another fun detail is the tonal check pattern all over the bag. As you may know Burberry is known for their check pattern and this bag has that but it’s very subtle which looks quite luxe.  You can pre-order this beauty now at Nordstrom for $1795. It’s a little spendy but the style and colour of the metallic leather has classic good looks that will go from season to season seamlessly.

Burberry has released a handbag for pre-order and it’s called the Burberry Leather Shopper. It’s available in classic, go with anything and any where Black and a gorgeous deep, dark Burgundy that’s perfect for Fall. What I love about these two handbags are the soft, buttery leather and the shape! These bags will fit just about anything you want to take with you and then some.

They close with a magnetic snap closure which makes getting things in and out super easy because you’re not fussing with zippers. The hardware has the traditional Burberry check embossed on them and that’s pretty much all the embellishment on them.
