Black Friday At Bath & Body Works

One of my favourite places to pick up new candles for my home and as gifts for others is Anthropologie. They have a fantastic selection and each one is like a piece of art!

Grand Tour Candle Tin ($40) – This beautifully designed candle tin is available in Cranberry Spice (cranberries, dried tea leaves, eucalyptus, cedar and vanilla), Tobacco Leaf (tobacco, violet, chai, vanilla and cinnamon) and Oriental Orchid (orchid, jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli and musk).  Each tin is decorated to complement the scent and them it’s named for.  This is a large candle at 4″ Dia x 4.5″ H so it will last quite a long time.

Plenty by Tracy Reese Candle ($40) – A pretty ‘designer’ boxed candle available in three scents; Big Blooms (casablanca lilies, jasmine and ginger flowers), Suthur Bazaar (turkish dates, fig leaves and basmati rice) and Blithe Spirit (tomato leaves, red grapefruit and lemongrass). This is also a large candle at 4″ diameter with a 40 hour burn time! These candles are so chic and the box can be a keepsake for all your little trinkets!

English Eccentrics Candle ($36) – If you’re looking for a set of candles with a little bit of a clever twist, these are the ones to get!  The designs are quirky and playful. These are available in four varieties; Tea with the Queen (violets and darjeeling tea), Wintergarden (fig, pomegranate and lilies), Eccentricity (green grass, bergamot, herbs and leather) and Enchanted Forest (smoky cedar, birch and amber).  Each one is 3″ Dia x 3.75″H with a 60 hour burn time.

What I love most about these candles is each one looks as if you’ve had them for years, they’re wonderful show pieces and pretty knick knacks to display around your home. And of course, they all smell quite wonderful!

Whether you want to invoke the scents of the holiday season or indulge in the scents of summer, these candles would make wonderful gifts for everyone on your list! You can purchase these through the Anthropologie website just in time for the holidays!

Bath and Body Works has an assortment of seasonal scents for the home that is sure to create that warm and cozy atmosphere everyone loves. One in particular, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, is perfect for both themes.

Home Sweet Smelling Home

Here’s a description of Beach Blonde, which is one of the two fragrances that I purchased:

If you enjoy spending long summer days at the beach, the Beach Blonde fragrance from Tyler will be a new favorite. It is a crisp invigorating scent reminiscent of sand, warm suntan oil and sea mist.

I smell it and it’s like I’m  a child, sitting at the shore with my mom. The smell is so very her, with a whiff of suntan oil. When I was a kid, Mom’s purse held that smell all year. I only tried a Beach Blonde votive, but I’m going to get the big one next time.

The other candle I picked out was PMS. It has a chocolate scent – a true chocolate scent, which is hard to find. I want a chocolate that smells like a brownie.

Just what you’re craving, chocolate.  The PMS fragrance is a spectacular scent of freshly baked chocolate cake!  With the perfect finishing touch, coconut shavings!

Home Fragrance-Highly Scented Tyler Candles

Candles are essential when you are trying to turn your bathroom into a relaxing oasis. When selecting candles fragrances, you can choose from relaxing scents like vanilla, invigorating citrus aromas or just pick a fragrance that you love.

Slatkin & Co. makes some great options. My favorites are Cinnamon Stick, Creamy Nutmeg and Spiced Cider. (Can you tell I’m thinking about the holidays?) Each of these candles are highly fragranced and burn up to 40 hours.

One scent that I really want to try is the Vanilla Caramel — two of my favorite things to eat!

Slatkin & Co. for Bath & Body Works

A room remodel can get pricey, so I’m going to start small – paint, couch pillows, and home fragrance. I’m going to start with this Table Sconce that was hand-crafted by Richard MacDonald. It reminds me of sea glass, you know those little pieces of smooth glass that you find when you walk along the shore? The light from a candle will look beautiful reflected by and through the different cuts and textures of glass. It measures 5 inches high by 3 3/4 inches wide.

I like these long-lasting scented candles Archipelago Botanical Candles from Sensia. They are made with lead-free wicks and essential oils. I like the Luna Candle. It has a combinaton of Lemon Verbena, Lavender, and Thyme. It’s off-white, so it would make a subtle decorating accent. I am looking for a beachy combination of tan, off-white, brown, and light blue accents. The Madagascar candle is a caramel brown. It would work well, too. It’s Orchid, Vanilla, Freesia, and Jasmine. Or the Havana in a cocoa brown with notes of Bergamot, Cuban Tobacco Leaves, and Ylang-Ylang.

Room Remodel Starts with Home Fragrance

Soy candles burn clean and are better for lung health than traditional candles made from petroleum products. A non-lead wick, like those used here, are an additional safety measure. Each 7.2 ounce Mrs. Meyer candle burns for 35 hours and are available in Geranium, Lavender, and Lemon Verbena.  Mrs. Meyer’s recommends trimming each candle wick to a quarter inch before lighting and burn for 2-3 hours at a time.
