A Classic Trench Coat for your Leading Lady

There’s something oh so glamorous about a trench coat. You’ve seen this wardrobe staple in all of the classic Hollywood films as well as shows. All fashionistas know a trench coat will take their outfits to a new level of sophisticated-ness.  You can pick up the classic tan trench or spice up your wardrobe with a bright shade or even a print.
I was browsing through one of my favourite shops, Anthropologie, today and came across an amazing trench coat that I just had to share with you!

Plum Coat by Little Houses

Outerwear is notoriously difficult for independent designers to make. The materials are really expensive and difficult to work with, so it’s hard to justify the effor in small quantities. But Little Houses is a Vancouver indie line that has amazing outerwear options.

The combination of ruffles and plaid on this jacket is killing me softly. The high button neck and hood ensure that you will be kept nice and toasty in this crafty-cute coat. Available for $260 from Little Houses.

Fantastic Fall Coats for Her

One of the best things about the fall and winter seasons is the mind boggling selection of fashionable coats! Even though I live in perpetually sunny Southern California, that doesn’t stop me from buying, coveting and appreciating the amazing coats and trenches that come out every year.
This season there are so many chic styles to choose from, let’s take a look at the black and charcoal coats…
Chloe Cashmere Coat ($2995) – Charcoal is a wonderful alternative to black and like black, it goes with any colour. The beauty of this coat is the dramatic over-sized spread collar and 3/4 sleeves.

Reason to Love Fall: Outerwear

Bare arms, legs, and tan skin are all trademark qualities of the Summer season. Covered arms, legs, and light skin are all trademarks of the Fall season. And there are pieces of clothing that make these trademarks pop. One of those trademarks is outerwear.
For some people, myself included, a coat is a coat. I’ll buy one new one a year (perhaps in black or brown), put it in my closet and hope that it gets cold enough to wear. But, for others, outerwear is the bread and butter of a Fall wardrobe. It adds pop, it adds color, and it …read more

Fantastic Fall Coats for Her

I know it’s still blazing hot outside and summer is not even close to being over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a gander at all the fabulous fall fashions.
Remember that raggedly old coat your sister, your friend (or heck, maybe even you!) was wearing last year? It has seen better days, give her a pretty new coat so she can welcome the colder months in style.

Since it was supposed to rain here in (perpetually sunny) Southern California, I thought it would be a great time to see if there were any great looking coats and other such outerwear available for Spring.  A stylish trench coat would make a great gift as it is a classic fashion item that can be worn every fall, winter and/or spring, day or night. She’s a Lady

By Guest Blogger Lisa Fogarty
Helene Berman may be “indie,” but scrappy? Oh, no. While other women were burning their bras, the British dame was studying fashion design at London’s prestigious Harrow School of Art and Design.
Her swingy cropped jackets and petticoats – yes, I said petticoats – are charming and ultra feminine, while her ladylike collection of hats, which range from metallic bucket hats to satin turbans, epitomize elegance.
I’m hoping if I can don a cute straw trilby and dogtooth print skirt I can still get away with chugging black coffee instead of Earl Grey.

Bold Colors for Fall 2009 Accessories

Fall is generally the time of year when accessory colors tend to be a little more restrained, a little less bold than spring or summer.
But some of the designers at New York Fashion Week are going against tradition and showed some yummy, bold, rich colors!
Check out these fabulous teal boots from Christian Siriano:

Calvin Klein used rich gold satin to create shoes for his latest collection:

Michael Kors added some seriously bold colors – this orange jacket and belt are the perfect remedy to a cold, gray, winter day:

But the hot pink hat…

It’s a little too bold for me…
