Wear your heart on your… purse?

Check out this charming “Big Heart” clutch purse from Marc Jacobs:

I know I’m a sucker for hearts right around Valentine’s Day, but it’s still an adorable clutch that will work for more than just February 14th.
The heart appliques have been cut out of different styles of fuschia leather – and accented with a little gold “Marc Jacobs” logo of course!

More cuts to New York Fashion Week

The New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 collections are just around the corner… and new designer cutbacks have been announced!
Marc Jacobs has decided to cut the number of invites to his always-popular runway show.
How deep of a cut?
Well… this year only 700 lucky fashionistas will get to take in the spectacle.  That’s a drop from the normal 2000 invites that go out.
But does the spectacle really change the design?  Are we going to love the quilted nylon “Casey” tote any less because there wasn’t champagne on every seat?

Of course not!
I’m sure his employees are breathing a sigh of relief that …read more

interesting textures from Kate Spade

interesting textures from Kate Spade

Kate Spade has been using some interesting materials to create her yummy handbags these days.  She’s used cork to create clutch purses, wicker to make cute little handbags and now she’s using rattan to make this tote:

Once again, she’s paired a natural material more commonly used to make chairs – with a sleek and sexy metallic leather.
The leather has been woven through the rattan to create the “Tortola Kei” handheld shopper tote.
I wonder if I can convince Santa Claus to leave one under the tree for me…

Want them to watch you walk away?

Check out these outrageously gorgeous “Carmen” high heeled peep-toe platform shoes from Christian Dior:

But, wait a minute – turn around and check out the heel!

Yummy, yummy, yummy!
Of course, it’s completely impractical for winter in my neck of the woods, while we’re suffering through a deep freeze…   But, come on, don’t those shoes just make you smile?

Try saying that three times fast…
Hoakan/Helga, indie purveyors of hot handbags made with an eco-friendly touch – are having a sale!  All of their handbags are on sale during December, which means you can get bow-tastic designs like the lovely purple “Mondarda“:

And the equally bow-tastic, but brown “Ravine” bag:

As well as the cheerful “Poppy” bag:

As always, the bags are hand-made from recycled leather garments.  Each bag is one-of-a-kind and made in Canada.

Paris Hilton knows about Splendicity!

The Beauty & Style channel’s very own Lara The List Maven snagged an exclusive interview with socialite Paris Hilton!
The full interview is coming soon – but you’re going to want to check out the contest that Lara is running…
I thought that in honor of the interview, I’d pick some of my favorite shoes from Paris Hilton’s new collection.   I have to admit, I was surprised by how stylish and wearable her shoes are -I’d definitely wear some of them.
Let’s begin with the “Tiffany” boot:

Clean, elegant lines – and that patent leather toe cap adds a nice little kick of …read more

chic & chunky wool scarves

Chunky wool scarves, wraps and cowls have made their way down several catwalks – and judging from the amount of frost on my front lawn this morning – it’s perfect timing to bring them out!
I love supporting indie designers, and Etsy is full of fantastic, trendy designs – check out this hand-knitted wool cowl by New York designer, Spratters & Jayne:

Fashionable and cozy – now there’s a happy mix

Follow The Sun necklace from Scosha NYC

In honor of my 100th post on my new jewelry blog, Gleaming Things – I thought I really should choose a piece of jewelry for today’s drool-worthy choice
The piece of jewelry?  Scosha NYC’s necklace, “Follow The Sun“:

It’s been created from extra-soft twisted black fishing line, 14kt yellow gold, silver oxidized chain and accented with a tiny diamond.  It’s also really adjustable, from 18 to 28 inches long.
And how can I resist a necklace with a tiny bird on it?

New York Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2009 – Betsey Johnson

Let’s see – love the turquoise handbag – the straw hat is totally adorable and those shoes… are not for every day, but with enough confidence I’m sure they can be pulled off…
