Diane Von Furstenberg, who has always been a staple in the business world, has designed this amazing Bullit Jacket that is available at ShopBop for $425. The ivory color makes it a perfect match with black pants or a black pencil skirt, but you could also wear it with some great skinny jeans and a cami, as pictured on the model to spice up any after-hours fiesta.  It is 22 inches long and has buttonholed details at the notched collar. I am particularly in love with the patched hip collars. It’s a different look from the normal side pockets of many other work blazers.

The Amelia City Bag is the type of bag that you can throw you whole life into and you will not only look so chic and sophisticated but stylish, too!   I’m a huge fan of large bags only because I tend to carry loads of ‘essentials’ and ‘just in case’ items with me. I’m sure I’m not alone in this! This one measures a very roomy 9″H x 12.5″L x 6″D – perfection!  It’s big enough to fit all you need plus a magazine or novel and even a small bottle of water. However it’s not too big that it’s cumbersome.

The bag itself is made out of a supple black pebbled leather (such a classic!) and features pockets at the front and back.  Speaking of pockets, take a look at that interior! You have to love a bag with loads of pockets! I’m all about keeping my handbags organized because the last thing I want to do when I’m in a rush is fish around for my keys or mobile.   Aside from the interior, the exterior of this Diane von Furstenberg Ameila City Bag ($575 at ShopBop) is absolutely gorgeous. It’s simple without being too plain jane. The hardware is a cool shade of gunmetal which is a nice alternative to silver or nickel. The detail in the two front straps is truly what gives this bag that extra special something. NYC 400th Anniversary Tees

I wrote about this darling Hippolyte dress by Diane Von Furstenberg a few weeks back when I discovered the Nordstrom Wedding Shop. And then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. And then, of course, I had to have it. Luckily, my new mother-in-law was kind enough to foot the bill! I love the sweet hippie crochet, and the detailed edging.

I will be wearing this dress with strappy white slingback sandals, a daisy and baby’s breath halo, and almost no make-up. Wish me luck!

(Oh, and if anyone else out there loves  this dress, a word of advice: it runs large. I’m usually an 8 in DVF, but I definitely could have taken a 6.)

Wedding Day Redux

The Nordstrom online wedding shop is a great place to find reasonably priced, well designed dresses in a lot of styles and sizes, minus the complicated ordering process at the bridal shop. There are long, sleek gowns like this gorgeous laser cut satin number by BCBG Max Azria. I love the multi-tiered look, and the way the laser cutting makes the layers lie close to the body makes it wearable for more figures.

There are also neo-bohemian crochet styles like this one by Diane Von Furstenberg. The short skirt and deep v-neck offset the modesty of the modest a-line cut. This would be a great dress for an outdoor wedding in the summertime, or just for a more casual affair. Nordstrom also carries a variety of styles for bridesmaids and MOBs. Well, now I’ve found these DVF Diana Thong sandals that will give everyone a perfect excuse to bear it all on the bottom level. The intricate design (this time beaded) is classic Diane Von Furstenberg. The style, an almost flip-flop gladiator style is perfect for this Spring/Summer season.

I’ll take two please! You can choose from the blue that is pictured above or a more classic black color. They are $210 from Sak’s Fifth Avenue.

However, maybe I’m the only one. According to Reuters, Diana Ross loves them. The Motown singer was at the  show and told reporters backstage “I loved the knits, and I absolutely loved the hats.”
