Have You Tried Dry Shampoo Yet?

I swear by this miracle invention, but I discover repeatedly that many girls I know have never tried it.
But…here’s a great reason to.
Oscar Blandi, creators of my favorite dry shampoo, are today having a private sale on RueLaLa! If you are going to try it – and you should – doing so at a good price is extra-rewarding.
Now, why would you want dry shampoo? Well, obvious reasons, like:
1 – Stretch your blowout. I have super-curly hair, and blowing it out straight is sometimes an arduous ordeal. Wouldn’t I obviously want it to last another day or so?
2 – This also …read more

Beach Bag Hair Essentials

So, I’m off to Mexico in just a few days!
Obviously, in such a hot, humid climate, my hair will be a BIG issue. Emphasis on big, and frizzy. And scary.
Here’s some tried-and-true hair products that will be in my beach bag at all times.

Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser to Go ($10, sephora.com)
Obviously, I”m coming with a hat and sunglasses, but my hair will still be exposed. I’ve tried many dry shampoos, and this is my favorite! It’s sort of a pick-me-up and a great way to go straight from beach to poolside cocktails.

The Great Unwashed

This weekend, I stayed in a totally fancy hotel – but for some odd reason, their toiletries were less-than well stocked.
We had plenty of body cleansing type stuff, and shampoo, but no conditioner. This resulted in me having the choice of washing my hair unconditioned, or not washing it for 3 days – while in beach-and-heat conditions.
I chose to not wash…and by the end of the weekend, was not all that attractive. However, I would have been if I knew this was going to happen and came with all my blowout-stretching materials at-ready.
The truth is, hair is healthiest if you …read more

Heidi and Her Dry Shampoo

While under normal circumstances, I’d probably not confess to knowing anything about I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here … believe it or not, what I am about to discuss is topic appropriate.
But anyway, on a recent episode The Hills‘ Spencer Pratt (our favorite curly-haired hot head since Steve Sanders), flipped out because Heidi’s dry shampoo was stolen.
In fact, the dry shampoo was a major plot point of the episode, and if you read the various net rags today, everyone is using that as exhibitive of how shallow and ridiculous she is.
I disagree.
Were I in that situation – I, …read more

Dry Shampoo Savior

You could say I lucked out in the hair department, if by “lucked out” you love hair that is dry at the ends, oily at the scalp, unwilling and unable to sustain a wave, and far too feral to be plain, straight and easy to manage. Basically, a schizophrenic challenge.
When I hear about friends who can go three days without a shampoo, I can’t help but feel bad for my poor limp locks, which have never gone two days without being assaulted by suds.
Until now.
I’ve only recently begun learning about some of the dry shampoo products on the market and, …read more

All-Night Styling Powder

Recently, I was browsing Daily Candy and discovered A Beautiful Life’s All Night Styling Powder. I instantly had to request a sample for myself.
I’m a big fan of hair powder – but we know all are not created equal. Some can lead to buildup, or worse, an unsightly dandruff-like effect.
I, am, however super-impressed with All-Nighter. First of all, it’s all-natural, talc-free, aluminum-free, silica-free, paraben-free color matched hair powder – that’s fabulous. Not only does it match your hair (look at all the shades it comes in!), but it won’t in any way harm it.
I tried it at first as a …read more

Frederic Fekkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo continuously saves my life.
I have pretty difficult hair – hair that requires a lo of concentration to blow out. For that reason, I try my best to stretch the time between blowouts, and have tried every remedy from pony tails to dry shampoos to make this possible.
My latest find is Fredeic Fekkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo – it uses various types of starch – from  rice starch to corn starch –  to  eliminate excess oil from the hair—no shower necessary, which sort of revs up your style and lets you last an extra day or so before another …read more
