The 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Berlin yesterday evening.
Like almost any award show, there was a mix of high fashion, trends and some… interesting choices by some of the stars.
Singer Joss Stone sported a serious pair of colorful earrings:
I love the color contrast between her hair and the shades of blue and turquoise that the pave hoop earrings are made with.
If you’d like to try out a pair of colorful hoop earrings, but aren’t sure if you want to go quite that big, I’ve got a few fun and stylish picks to choose from.

Elegant Jewelry Made From River Rocks?

When you say the word “jewelry”, most people think of something shiny and glittery, made with silver or gold – maybe with diamonds or other gemstones.
The jewelry designers from Turtle Love Committee want to change the way you think about jewelry.  Their clean, simple and elegant designs feature river rocks.
That’s right, river rocks.
Rocks that people have gone out and found on the banks of local rivers, that have been polished by the water and pebbles until they’re smooth.
And guess what – the jewelry is lovely!

The Sheridan pendant is made from a single rock, found in Upper Michigan.  It’s strung on …read more

Fall has arrived with a gust of wind and snow in my neck of the woods… which has inspired my Etsy pick for the weekend.
The trees are rapidly losing their leaves, but at least there are leaves you can wear year-round that will never fade or drop!
Etsy jewelry designer “Made By Sam” has an extensive collection of jewelry made with semi-precious stones and metal leaves or branches – perfect for helping you remember what leaves look like in the middle of winter
Here are a few of my favorite pieces from their huge online shop:

Tiny Bang Studs by Ach Ach Liebling

I have a penchant for tiny gun jewelry. I’m not really sure how it came about, since I’m not really into guns. My grandpa tried to take me shooting once when I was like ten, but I wimped out and couldn’t pull the trigger. Anyways, I’m not really into big guns, but I like little tiny ones that can’t hurt anyone. Check these tiny bangs:
Aren’t they the perfect blend of badassitude and totally adorable? It’s okay, you don’t have to answer, I will. Yes. And they’re sterling silver. And only 32 bucks. Available from Ach Ach Liebling.

She wore large, square faceted earrings, a sparkling headband and a multi-strand necklace:
If you’d like to try out her jewelry look yourself, but don’t have a movie star budget – I’ve got a few low-cost options for you!
Let’s begin with layering these two necklaces together:

The “Marie” jeweled necklace from Forever 21, $12.80.

And the “Puffed” rhinestone necklace, $8.80, also from Forever 21.
You could throw a third necklace on top, to mimic the square crystals, but I honestly think that those two necklaces are going to be enough …read more
