At this year’s Emmy awards, long, messy braids, and wavy, rumpled up-dos were the most popular hairstyles on the red carpet.
I consulted Moulay Yacoubi, a celebrity hair stylist at New York’s exclusive Pierre Michel salon who has worked with Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Hurley and Kate Moss.
My goal? Easy tips for achieving a glamorous “messy braid” like the one Blake Lively wore at the Emmy’s. Turns out it’s quite possible!
1. After shampoo and conditioner, prep the hair with light mousse. This will help the hair hold the braid shape.

Hayden Panettiere looked gorgeous at the 61st Annual Emmy Awards last weekend, wearing a red J Mendel gown, Fred Leighton jewelry, Judith Leiber clutch and Bally gold shoes. As you might know, Hayden is the Neutrogena brand ambassador, so it’s no wonder that she used Neutrogena cosmetics and skin care products to get her fresh-faced yet glamorous look.
Celebrity makeup artist Amy Oresman created Hayden’s Emmy night look. Here are a few tips from Amy on how you can re-create the look for yourself.

Emmy Awards: Best Dark Gowns

Between Drew Barrymore’s bubblegum-pink soufflé of a gown and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s California babe look – not to mention the endless parade of white, dusky rose and nude dresses – the Emmy Awards were the picture of sweet fashion innocence (save Blake Lively’s oh-so-lively plunging red dress).
Perhaps because of this, the darkest of dark hues stood out far more, in my opinion.
Taking a page out of fall’s goth-glam looks, these women were stunning in deep, dark and glam shades:
“Mad Men’s” Christina Hendricks looked every inch the 1950s starlet in a blue-black L’wren Scott:
Heidi Klum, seven months pregnant and gorgeous, in …read more

Red carpets are the time for the stars to shine – literally!
Last nights 61st Emmy Awards were no exception, with the celebrities wearing diamonds – lots and lots of diamonds.
Lots of celebs sported some serious rocks – with big earrings shining away brightly.
Actress Glenn Close brought home some shiny hardware when she won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for ‘Damages’ – while wearing a unique pair of earrings:
Kathy Griffin went for a more traditional pair of earrings, but still with tons of sparkle factor:
If you’d like to try out some big earrings of your own …read more

We all live in fear of humidity and frizzy hair days.
Now, imagine if you had to do that…and knew you’d be on the red carpet!
Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, styled Rose Byrne’s award night look.
Last week, Harry styled a collar bone-length cut to for Rose. “Since her dress was so elegant, I wanted to create a simple and chic look for Rose,” said Harry. “I knew that leaving her hair down to showcase her new cut would do just that.”
It was hot in LA yesterday, and he used Frizz Ease serum to ward off the humidity evils. …read more

It’s inevitable that some red carpet accessories will raise an eyebrow or two. After all, everyone has unique taste and what one fashion blogger loves, another might not…
That being said, I don’t think there are too many fashion bloggers who are in love with this particular red carpet look from last night’s Emmy Awards:
Okay, yes – personal style is very important, but this is the Emmys here folks…
I really, really want to love Kate Flannery’s whole outfit here – she’s got an adorable 50s vibe going on and that brooch on her waist is just charming:
But I can’t do the …read more

The 61st Emmy Awards took place last night and boy, did the stars bring out their best for the red carpet!
One of the looks the celebrities rocked were statement necklaces with colored stones – everything from pale green to shocking blue was on display last night.
Tracy Pollan (shown here with Michael J. Fox) went for a bold hit of color with a triple strand necklace with round cabochons in blue and green:
This is definitely a tricky one to pull off – matching greens can be a challenge, and if they’re not quite right…
Joely Fisher wore a tassel necklace with a …read more
