]]> A good quality classic fedora is a wardrobe staple for men and women of all ages.  I just found the perfect fedora that is a collaboration between Bailey Hats, a hat company that has been producing classic designs since 1922, and Epaulet, my favorite Brooklyn boutique that features new and unique independent designers.  Bailey and Epaulet came together and designed the “Rudie” fedora after the 1960’s Rude Boys from Kingston, Jamaica who listened to ska and reggae and dressed like soul singers from the U.S.

The Rudie is made of LiteFelt, which is “a durable virgin wool that is crushable and Teflon-coated for water and stain resistance.”  It is handmade in Pennsylvania in a traditional fedora style that is still fashionable today.  It has a grosgrain ribbon band and a small peacock feather on the side.

Epaulet Rudie full lengthI love this hat because it has the perfect mix of traditional and modern.  It could look great on your Grandpa with his tweed jacket or on your sister with her skinny jeans and boyfriend cardigan.  It’s so versatile and your boyfriend/husband will borrow it from you!

Bowties for Fall

]]> Architects have been rocking them for decades, but I am excited to see that bowties have finally hit the mainstream.  Real bowties (not the clip-on tuxedo kind!) are definitely a fashionable accessory for men this Fall.  Men, your biggest challenge in wearing the bowtie is to figure out how to tie it.  I’ve tried it myself and my only advice is:  practice makes perfect!  Once you have that mastered, you can definitely pull off the look!

Bowties have a history of being strictly formal, but they are now actually a versatile menswear accessory.  You can wear a bowtie traditionally for a dressy look, pair it with a tucked in striped button-up and dark designer jeans for a dinner out, or leave it untied and draped around the neck for a super stylish look!  The patterned ties are the best because you can mix colors and fabrics in your outfit for a unique ensemble.

]]> Fashionable hats for men are becoming very popular for the summer.  Whether you are protecting your face and head from sun damage or just spicing up an outfit, a hat is an easy and stylish accessory.

The fedora is a classic hat that can be worn by men of all ages.  George Bailey has been designing and producing wearable hats for men since he started the hat company Bailey’s in 1922.  Some credit Bailey as the trendsetter who started the popularization of styles like the fedora, derby, and godfather hats in the 1920’s.  His hats were worn in Hollywood by classic film stars like Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart.
