Remember when I reviewed those fragrances from Smell Bent a couple of weeks ago? Well, I got an email from the company and they’ve got something special available for Halloween – A Bent Halloween Limited Edition Fragrances.

now you see ‘em and now you don’t. these little buggers are elusive. hanging around for a little bit, but never quite long enough for you to get sick of them. it does break our heart that they have to leave. but then again, they say absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. wait, that’s not it … but you get the point.

In Search of Pretty Feet: Pedi-Relax Foot Care Line

I’m a barefoot girl, from way back. I’m barefoot indoors, always, and outside, I do my best to get away with flipflops all year. It doesn’t snow where I am from, but it does get frosty. If I’m wearing shoes, than chances are it’s my Asics running shoes.

All of these foot habits – barefootin’ it, constant flipflops, and running – they work together to give me some not so pretty feet. My toes, sure they look fine, I always have a fresh pedicure, but the calluses, well they are another story.

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to try Sante Active’s Pedi-Relax foot line. Pretty feet, here I come!!

Sarah, my lovely daughter, and I sat down last night and got to work. First, we tried the Exfoliating Cream. It’s a gritty scrub, that you rub into your skin, paying special attention to your calluses and dry patches. Then, you rinse. The scrub is gritty, but it’s a very fine grit, not scratchy and it smells wonderful – like a lemon bar. (Ooh, now I’m hungry…) After rinsing our feet felt much smoother and moisturized.

Exfoliating Cream

With essential oils of lemon.

Pedi-Relax® Exfoliating Cream is specifically formulated for dry feet with calluses. It provides strong exfoliation of dry skin and also purifies and moisturizes to leave your feet smooth and soft. Next, we tried the Intense Hydrating Cream. You apply it twice daily to towel-dried feet. It’s very moisturizing and has a nice scent. It really did a nice job of making my feet feel soft. When I checked my feet in the morning, they still felt smooth. Great! This is definitely a keeper.

I won’t share all the ickiness that can afflict a runner’s feet, but trust me when I say it’s not pretty.

How To Make Your Own Bath Salts

Today, I have a simple tutorial for making your own bath salts. I do a batch of this up every couple of months. My son, Max, and I love baths. Max has very sensitive skin, so he likes the soothing properties of the salt. I keep it in a kitchen canister in the bathroom. To use, I pour a scoop (about 1 gram size scoop) under the faucet, as the tub fills. It makes the whole bathroom smell wonderful.

Ingredients are very simple:

2 cups Sea Salt

2 cups Epsom Salt

15 drops essential oil (I usually use Lavendar)

food coloring (optional)

Lavendar oil has a very relaxing scent. It is one of my favorites. In fact, one of my dreams is to operate a Lavendar farm someday. I grow it on my patio, which is something I will get into in a post later on. Some other choices include a citrus blend (energizing) or eucalyptus (relaxing).

Pour the salts in a bowl and add the oil drops. The drops are strong and are not meant for direct full-strength contact, so mix them in carefully with a wooden spoon, not your hands.

You can add color to your salt for decorative purposes. I usually leave mine plain white, but I used a green/blue combination here, so that you can see how it works. I used 2 drops of blue food coloring and 2 drops of green. Then, I mixed it through, just like I did the scented oil.

It takes a few minutes, but eventually you get a nice even color. Store the salt in a covered container. That’s it! Easy, wasn’t it?
