Garden Lace Racerback Gown by Behnaz Serafpour

Here we are, between seasons, and what are you going to wear to your next event? It’s not time to break out the long-sleeved wool, yet, but it might be time to put away the mini dress (at least without stockings). Check out this amazing seasonless gown by Behnaz Serafpour.

This one is a real showstopper. Oh snap, now I’m gonna have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day! Anyways, I’m basically bonkers for this anything but basic dress. I love the way the silk lining ends at the knee for a very flirty lace swish …read more

3 Ways to Wear Only One Shoulder

One-shouldered gowns are the look of the moment. Well, one of them, anyways. But, how do you wear this one shouldered look without coming off like a disco princess wannabe? Here’s three ways, courtesy of Badgley Mischka.

This silk chiffon one-shouldered gown really makes a statement, and it isn’t “take me to the roller rink”. This drapey, dead sexy take on the one-shouldered look makes it black tie or red carpet ready. One way to keep a one-shouldered look current is by making sure it’s composed of a nice, sophisticated fabric, and not a shiny poly blend. Available for $459 (from …read more

Silk Asymmetric Strapless Gown by Halston

There’s nothing like peachy, coral tones to show off tanned skin. And ladies, your timeline for sun kissed skin and skin baring dresses is running a little short, so get on it. I love this gown by Halston as a late summer delight. It’s perfect for a black tie wedding in August.
This is exactly the kind of classic, timeless elegance that Halston is known for, and that Hollywood starlets have coveted for decades. I love the almost grecian draping of the gown, the luxe, smooth fabric, and the slim column silhouette. Available for $1,498 from Gilt. You need an invitation …read more

Badgley Mischka Evening Wear Sample Sale!

Alright, I’ll be honest. Badgley Mischka is not one of my favorite design duos. But I wasn’t pleasantly surprised at the dressed I saw on sale at Ideeli. They aren’t going to start any design revolutions, but their dresses are clean and classic, which is basically all that anyone can ask.
This slate colored metallic brocade dress is an easy stunner. The slim cut is flattering for a lot of shapes, and the princess neckline is, as well. What I like about this dress is that it combines such a traditional cut with such a flashy fabric. it really strikes a …read more

The Fashion Show: Evening Gowns & Crystals

Tonight on The Fashion Show, Harper Bazaar’s editor-in-chief, Glenda Bailey, joins the team as a guest judge ready to put the pressure on the last designers still standing.
During the mini challenge, the five remaining designers must create a “uniquely draped” dress with just one piece of fabric and twelve pins. Then for the elimination challenge it’s all about evening gowns and Swarovski crystals when the designers must create the ultimate fantasy dress! Oh…and did we mention there will be some surprise guests to give a helping hand? I wonder if they’re going to bring back the designers who have been …read more

Molten Metal: Evening Gown Runway Trends

The Fall season evening gowns have arrived on the runways, and boy do they shine in liquid silver and gold. The metallic trend seems to have moved from accessories to fabrics, and the result is blingalicious. Here are some of my favorite looks.
This stunner by Ralph Lauren literally looks as though it melted down the model’s body. I love the way the fabric pools up around the feet, enhancing its fluid grace. Unfortunately, you pretty much have to be a model to pull off a style like this, as it is as slinky as all get out.
Here’s one for the …read more

Nicole Miller Off The Shoulder Gown

I guess my invitation to the Met Costume Gala was lost in the mail this year because celebrities and celebrity watchers alike, at this very moment, are gathering to support one of the best things in the whole world…fashion and history at one of the best places in the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Now, if my invite ever did really come to this fabulous event one of the dresses I would for sure want to try  would be this Nicole Miller Off the Shoulder Gown. I love this muted almost grass green/olive color. It kind …read more

Missoni Patsy Strapless Gown

You might know Missoni more for their zigzag scarves and other apparel, but they actually have everything from sunglasses and swimwear to fragrance and gorgeous gowns.

This Missoni strapless gown is a unique choice. It features silver beading on the strapless bust, and the rest of gown is light blue and grey knit.
You can get this Missoni gown right now at Neiman Marcus for $4,515. It would look fabulous with a pair of silver strappy sandals and a stack of bangles.
