this weekend: style wars in atlantic city

Oooo It’s time for more Style Wars, a big ol’ Project Runway-esque competition where the winner takes away $500.
It’s this weekend in Atlantic City, which is a tad far away from me, but if you’re nearby you should check it out. Designers battle it out and there are celebrity judges and all that. Sounds like fun to me!
Want to compete? Send applications over to House of Diehl.

vote: fred flare’s next big thing

Oh my. It’s time to vote for Fred Flare’s Next Big Thing, a great competition for indie artists and designers.
There are many familiar names to me, like Little Odd Forest and Ruffeo Hearts Lil’ Snotty and I’m Your Present.
I have no idea who I am going to pick, but it’s a great honor for all these guys to even have gotten this far. All the finalists have goods up for sale that you can pick up today.
Vote for the Next Big Thing at Fred Flare!

project runway: jack’s back

Remember Jack? He left Project Runway way too early, due to a bad staph infection. He was amazingly talented and I wish he had been around longer.
But luckily Heather Tom of The Bold & the Beautiful had him make a dress for the 2008 daytime Emmys and you can bid on it!
The auction will benefit AIDS charities as part of the Clothes Off Our Back fundraiser.
Go here to place a bid on this hot dress!

Today, asos starts their LTD 100 collection, a super limited set of stuff.
They’re designed by fashion students and from what I can tell, they’re 100 items, one of each (someone correct me if I’m wrong).
It reminds me of Fred Flare’s Next Big Thing, but a lot more high end. I’m curious to see how expensive the items are. I’ll keep an eye out today and try to show you what I think are the best.

Last year, I fell in love with the winner of the Next Big Thing, Supayana.
This year, I’m going to vote.
Will you? Just go to Fred’s blog and read up on all of the contestants for a while. Then on July 2nd we can vote!
Read Fred’s blog for interviews with all the contestants.

french confuses me: castelbajac invitation

image: jc de castelbajac
OK, my French is a little rusty. This (I think) says that JC de Castelbajac is having a party from the 19th through 24th of May for mothers at their boutique. And then something about their women’s collection and accessories.
Anyone read French better than me?
I love Catelbajac. He made that awesome yeti eyes skirt I raved about a while back. Whatever the invitation says, if you’re in the area (France?) I’d go.

brick and mortar: maki squarepatch

Maki Squarepatch is perhaps the cutest shop ever.
I’ve babbled on about them before, but the news is that they are now open at their new location in Singapore. I wish i could pop in and see all the cute little art pieces and clothing that they’ve got.
But you, if you’re in Singapore, you should check out their grand opening party this Friday. You’ll get a peek at the new accessories, baby blankets and other items and get to meet the awesome twosome that run the shop.
Info:
When: May 9, 7 pm
Where: 33 Bali Lane (second story)
