Review: NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil

Recently, fellow Splendicity blogger Star Stevenson wrote about the NARS Holiday 2009 Collection. I have long been a fan of NARS, but haven’t experimented much with their eye color outside their powder eye shadow. However when I saw the fabulous pencils in the holiday collection like Goddess (light champagne gold) and Aigle Noir (dark smokey green), I knew it was time to give them a try.
Shadow pencils from other cosmetics companies are a mixed bag… some are amazing, while most are a little too hard and not smooth enough for eyeshadow. With the NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils, I was …read more

Shu Uemura Primal Color Eyeshadow Stick

Just the other day, I wrote about the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in Place ShadowStick here on Splendicity and then this past weekend, I came across another cream eyeshadow stick that I really like. The shu uemura Primal Color Eyeshadow Stick glides on with a creamy texture then dries to a powdery finish.
This convenient twist-up shadow stick is perfect for on-the-go makeup application and quick touch-ups. The Primitribe collection colors include Blazed Gold, Misty Grove, Rich Earth and Night Maroon.
I have both the Rich Earth and Blazed Gold — which are fantastic colors for fall. These colors are highly-pigmented and …read more

Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowStick

In the past, I always stuck with powder eye shadow. My experience with cream and other formulas wasn’t good. They always ended up creasing, looking cake-y, or fading away by lunchtime. However in recent years, cream eye shadow improved.
In the last year, I have found a number of cream shadows that I love. They provide fabulous color and many of them last as long as traditional powder.
Then, I was introduced to Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowStick. Could it be? A convenient, quick eye shadow stick that went on smooth and lasted all day? Though I am a big fan …read more

Review: Jouer Cosmetics

Recently I was introduced to Jouer Cosmetics. I always love trying out new makeup and this line is terrific. Start with their website, which provides some interactive fun!

You can then select from eye, cheek and lip colors available from Jouer. All four models will then be shown wearing the products you selected. It’s a great way to see how the colors work well with all skintones.
I tried a variety of different Jouer products and two …read more

Deep Blue/Green Makeup Tutorial Video

I’ll admit that I usually don’t like blue eye shadow. Though it looks great on some women, it always seems so 80s to me that I don’t venture too much into it. But recently, I saw this YouTube makeup tutorial featuring a pretty brunette named Blair. She does some amazing things with blue shadow for a stunning result.
Check out the video below.
