If you’re job is to report on fashion, as mine is, how do I avoid feeling the strain of bank failures, manufacturing down turns and people losing their homes everyday?
Fashion Week’s last day is tomorrow, February 20, 2009, and I have come to the grim reality that the fashion world is taking note of the down turn in the American Economy. The fall season is usually time for bland make-up and stark colors, but it is everywhere this season. Even the usual upbeat Nicole Miller was pretty bland this season.

The New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 collections are just around the corner… and new designer cutbacks have been announced!
Marc Jacobs has decided to cut the number of invites to his always-popular runway show.
How deep of a cut?
Well… this year only 700 lucky fashionistas will get to take in the spectacle. That’s a drop from the normal 2000 invites that go out.
But does the spectacle really change the design? Are we going to love the quilted nylon “Casey” tote any less because there wasn’t champagne on every seat?
