Feminine Boots for Fall 2009

Boots aren’t always known for being the most feminine of footwear.
Jeweled sandals, strappy pumps and sexy peep-toes seem to get all the fun…
But designers are out to prove that wrong, with details like flowers and ruffles showing up in Fall 2009 boots.  I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite picks, but there are lots more out there!  With everything from little hearts showing up on shoe laces to intricately pleated cuffs, there are lots of options for feminine fashionistas.

The green suede “French Maid” bootie (you could also argue that it’s a mule as well…) by Nanette Lepore features a …read more

Warm Colors for Cool Weather

Pantone has pulled together a lovely collection of colors for their Fall 2009 color forecast.
With colors going from the deep rich, cranberry red of “American Beauty” to the softer coral of “Burnt Sienna”, there are deep shades for everyone.  If you prefer your colors a little less intense, there’s the warm caramel of “Honey Yellow” and the soft, nude shade of “Crème Brùlèe”.
But can you find those colors in the real world?  Let’s go shoe shopping!
I’ve got to go for “American Beauty” to begin – if only because that shade of red is going to be perfect for brightening up …read more

Exotic Animals for Fall 2009 Shoes

Fall 2009 promises to takes us into the jungle with exotic animal prints showing up all over the season’s hottest shoes and boots.
Influences from big snakes and even bigger cats are being reproduced using pony or embossed onto “domestic” leathers.  Although it sounds like Manolo Blahnik is using real snakeskin for his flat boots that I’ve included here…
Just remember, when it comes to animal prints – a little bit will do, you don’t need to match everything!

Over-the-knee boots are a big trend, with lots of different options available.  Just remember, keep the rest of your outfit understated and elegant – you don’t want to go overboard with this one!

Mexico City Fashion Week: Rapsodia

Rapsodia is a distinctly Latin American fashion line that has locations in Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Spain. It is a-mazing! I fell in love when I saw it. The next time one of my Mexican co-workers go to Mexico to see family I am going to ask her to pick me some stuff up form there. This means I need to start saving up!
If you have taken any Spanish classes in high school you have seen pictures of little old ladies wearing bright textiles. This is what this outfit reminds me of. Except it’s not just cultural. It’s fashionable. I …read more
