Suzabelle’s modern belle

The most disturbing spring trend to hit New York runways, in my opinion, isn’t acid-wash short-shorts or bodysuits (I’m looking at you, Charlotte Ronson), which can be hideously fun when styled correctly. No, the greatest sin of all is the return of their ridiculous early 90s cousin, the bare midriff. I don’t care if your tummy inspires “oohs” and “aahs” at the beach, poolside or any other place you’re expected to appear half-naked, this look really isn’t going to fly if you’re not older than 14 and auditioning for Jodie Foster’s part in the remake of Taxi Driver.
But Suzabelle, Suzanne Jaberg’s …read more

Snood Is The Must-Have Accessory for Fall

As soon as the temperature starts to drop, you will start to see snoods popping up on every fashionable woman’s head and neck.  A snood is a functional, elegant, and versatile accessory that works with different looks and changing weather.  I must get my hands on one as soon as possible…
Missoni Rib-Knit Wool-Blend Snood $205
What is a snood? Traditionally, dating back to the 1860’s, a snood was a hairpiece that wrapped around the top of the head and under the hair to the nape of the neck.  This circular wrap contained a netted or cloth sack that held the hair.  …read more

Grey makeup bouquet

I’m so impressionable.
I haven’t thought of grey in forever, but the second I saw the misty, moody, far-more-flattering-than-black hue dominate the fall/winter 09 runway, I fell in love. Heather or granite; charcoal or slate — there’s a grey out there to suit every skin tone.
Here are my picks for some of the prettiest makeup shades and brands to add a provocative, but softly sultry look to complement all of those vampy outfits you’ll be inspired to sport this fall.
Motives Kohl Eyeliner in Steel is a lighter shade of grey…
Yves Saint Laurent always features the most vibrant and clear shades. Their …read more

Halston Cluny Cutout Boots

I am slowing falling love with boots for this Fall season. I found my dream pair of boots, these Christian Louboutin Velours Scrunch Boot. They’re pretty darn amazing and need little to no explanation as to why I love them. These Halston Cluny Cut Out Boots though, need some explanation.
Aren’t boots made to keep you warm? Not to cool you off a la sandals or even some heels? The side zip fastening with open back with buckle fastening straps just confuse me, but to be honest I take fashion for what it is. I’m not like Malvin from Project Runway …read more

Rebecca Taylor Floral Tunic

Rebecca Taylor’s designs are so feminine and fun that I almost want to walk in to any store that carries her designs, point to every single one and say “I’ll take one of each.” That’s what I did earlier this weekend when I went shopping with some friends for the annual “I have no Fall clothing for work, please help me get my closet ready” shopping extravaganza.
We went in to several stores and after purchasing some much needed basics, walked through Neiman Marcus and dreamt of the clothes that would probably never make up our low paying, but highlight rewarding …read more

Design Profile: Christopher Kane for Versus

Christopher Kane, a relative newcomer on the fashion design scene, became something of a darling last year with his line of gorilla printed dresses and tees. These babies have sold to Dallas socialites and rock-n-roll heartthrobs alike, and I would have one of my own if they didn’t retail for way over the price of my rent. Anyhow, earlier in the year Mr. Kane announced that he would be pairing up with Versace’s diffusion line, Versus, in creating a line of accessories. Immediately I began to look forward to over-the-top leather boots with miniscule pricetags. Oops. Let’s just say that …read more

Fall 2009 Handbag Trends Part 5

If the upcoming fall 2009 handbag trends like the tough rocker chic, shiny metallics, textured or animal print, or even grey or red bags, don’t tickle your fancy, you needn’t worry! Another this fall trend spotted on the runways are Neutral hued bags.
Kooba Alex Hobo ($595) – This is a wonderful bag to use for every day. The glazed leather is quite delish in this Tan shade and gold tone studs give it just a bit of an edgy vibe.
Burberry Convertible Leather Satchel ($995) – I’m a big fan of versatile bags. This one can be carried by hand, …read more

Top 5 Women’s Hat Trends For Fall

Fashionable hats have become popular in the past few years as a functional and glamorous accessory that can add so much style to a Fall ensemble.  Fall hats are a little different from Winter hats because they don’t need to provide as much warmth, so they can be a little more fashion and a little less function.  Here are my picks for the top women’s hat trends for this fall:

decorated cloche – The cloche made a huge comeback last fall, so definitely expect to see this style out in full force.  The plain black cloche has already been done, so …read more
