This is an ensemble you can wear on a fun night out on the town with your girls or special someone.

I saw this gorgeous Studded Fete Dress ($298) at Anthropologie and just had to use it. I like the contrast of the black bodice with the chiffon grey and black polka dot skirt. The studs on the waist are a fun little detail that really makes this dress pop.

To complement the studded waist and add texture to the outfit, I chose this pretty Forever 21 Beaded Stone Necklace ($7.80) and Alondra Jewel Hinge Bracelet ($14.80). The chunky stones and beads are both in the same monochromatic colour family of cream, black and silver/grey so it works quite well.  Since the necklace is quite busy you won’t need dramatic earrings, I’d just wear simple studs.

An easy cover up for this outfit is a simple cardigan. You can wear a solid coloured cardigan but I thought it would be fun to play up the polka dot pattern with this charcoal grey and black Dotted Sweater Cardigan ($19.80) from Forever 21. An alternative would be to wear a cream or ivory cardigan with this look.

You can go with or without opaque tights (in black) for this look but for shoes, definitely go for these Forever 21 Gladiator Heels ($26.80) just to give the outfit a little edge.  For a sweeter, more feminine look, wear silver ballet flats like these Forever 21 Cracked Metallic Flats ($18.80). Knee high boots and even silver pumps would go very well with this look.

Lastly, you’ll need a chic little bag. This Yves Saint Laurent Mini Charm Leather Bag (pre-order, $455) matches quite well with the grey colour of the skirt.  The chain shoulder strap is on point with this season’s hardware trend.  An alternative would be to carry an pretty cream coloured clutch to pick up the cream on the necklace and bracelet.

As you can see the whole outfit leans towards the monochromatic side but it’s not too boring or plain. Overall, a pretty and feminine look.

We have a Burlington Coat Factory by us and whenever I pass by, I always see a ton of people in there. Ours has an extremely large assortment of leather jackets and other outerwear. Aside from coats there are shoes, other clothing items, toys, home goods and what not.  I haven’t been to very many BCFs but I think the one by me is pretty huge. It’s at the sub-floor of a section of our mall and it pretty much expands over two department sized stores – so yeah, pretty huge.  It’s definitely one of those stores where you have to set aside a day to browse through because you will find deals, you just have to be patient and persistent!

Cute Coats at Burlington Coat Factory

Basically, the pieces are targeted for those lucky few who go on holiday to some tropical location while the rest of us suffer through the cold temps, rain, sleet and snow.

If you’re one of those lucky jet-setters about to frolic on the sand with the crystal blue ocean as your backdrop or if you just want to channel the nautical look, below is an outfit that incorporates the ultimate nautical colour, navy with a bit of a twist.

First let’s start off with something all of you should have in your closet, a white tee like this Forever 21 Fab V-Neck Tee ($3.50). This is the type of shirt you should have in a billion colours and this one is less than four dollars – get all the colours! A v-neck is flattering to just about everyone ,too.

Second, you’re going to need a beautiful navy skirt. This Forever 21 Dotted Swing Skirt ($19.80) is perfect! Don’t you love the tiny white polka dots? Too cute and super flattering as well.

The accent colour of this look is coral (to pay homage to those pretty coral reefs! )  and this cropped Heritage 81 Angora Short Sleeve Knit Cardigan ($22.90) is a great layering piece.  The slim silhouette of the tell and cardigan has a bit of a retro vibe which works well with the full skirt.

Top off the outfit with this fantastic double breasted JCrew Icon Trench Coat ($298). This is the type of trench coat you’ll wear for years, maybe even forever. The cut, style, shape and light khaki colour is perfect with any outfit which is why it works so well with this look.

Pick up more of the coral shade these pretty accessories, the Forever 21 Anisa Studded Bracelet ($7.80) and Mayah Flower Earrings ($5.80). Since the earrings are pretty ‘busy’ there’s no need for a necklace with this look. Too much jewelry can sometimes be overkill.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs Totally Turnlock Aggie Tote ($378) in Ink Blue is the perfect complimentary bag for this nautical colour scheme. It plays up the navy blue in the skirt very well.

For shoes you have lots of choices.  Wear boots if the weather is cold but I think these Elizabeth and James Linda Caged Pumps/Ankle Boots ($350) made out of dark blue stingray leather is to die for.  They give the look an edgy spin.

Then again, you can also play it safe and elongate those legs with taupe coloured heels like these Dolce Vita Beam Pumps ($139.95).  Or maybe wear a cute pair of navy blue ballet flats?  No matter what shoes you choose to wear the overall look is feminine, sophisticated and chic.

During the warmer months, put away the trench coat and throw on a pair of coral wedge sandals like these fun and flirty Kate Spade Lorna Wedge Sandals (on sale $196.90).  This is a great outfit to wear to the office or while you’re out and about.

Now, Miss Kelly, I am the last person to say that I am perfect, but I know when things look okay and when things look bad on me. All you’d need are black accessories, funky ankle boots or heels. Then throw on a cute cardigan or give it a little edge with a leather jacket.

Forever 21 is Pretty in Purple

Tweed is another Fall staple and this hot tweed Sequin Lapel Blazer by AKA New York ($428) has just the right amount of stylish details to make it interesting. What’s great about this blazer is it’ll easily transform a simple  daytime outfit of jeans and a tee to a chic outfit for cocktails.

If you want to take Fall’s animal print trend and stand out from the crowd, this St. Morritz Faux Fur Jacket from What Goes Around Comes Around ($495) is a great choice.

Hot and Stylish Jackets for Fall

Since grey is one of the colours to have for Fall, I thought it would be fun to create an outfit combination that’s fun, funky and perfect to wear when the cold temperatures hit.

Gap Moleskin Coat ($88) – This coat will liven up any outfit! If you already have the basic shades for outerwear (black, camel, brown) it’s time to invest in coloured or even print coats.

J. Brand 514 Corduroys ($158) – Grey corduroy pants go with anything and can be dressed up or down depending on the weave of the fabric.  Usually finer weaves look better when dressed up.

Yellow Button Cloverleaf Scoopneck ($48) – I love me a striped to and this one is not at all boring. The ruffles at a touch of interest to an otherwise plain tee.

Sabina Leather Satchel ($198) – I love bright bags, they’re an instant pick me up on dreary days!

Mia Seductive Ankle Booties ($130) – As you know ankle boots are popular this season, these have a nice cuff and tie detail at the side.

Forever 21 Teardrop Thread Earrings ($4.80) – These earrings are quite pretty and will catch the light and turn different shades of teals and greens.

UO Turquoise Stone Ring ($14.99) – A fun statement ring to balance the earrings. You can also go without a ring and put on a teal coloured cuff bracelet too.

As you can see there are a lot of brights or accent colours going on here. At first they may seem to clash but they don’t – they just ‘go’ together.   Obviously you don’t have to wear this exact outfit combination but it’s a fun alternative. You don’t have to be matchy-matchy all the time.

Outfit Idea : Grey Cords and Brights

Aren’t boots made to keep you warm? Not to cool you off a la sandals or even some heels? The side zip fastening with open back with buckle fastening straps just confuse me, but to be honest I take fashion for what it is. I’m not like Malvin from Project Runway who needs to explore fashion and who needs to “understand fashion.” To be fair, his aesthetic did get him eliminated. If it’s pretty and feels good I’ll wear it. But, this does not look good. It just looks weird.

I could get it if you wear some awesome leggings and want to show off the leggings, but other then that I think I’ll pass. If you’re more of a Malvin, though, then you can get these at Net-A-Porter for $995.

It zips on the top and and has the extra storage space in the front with double fastening pockets in the front. It also has feet on the bottom so the bag won’t get so dirty (but to be honest..if you’re going to spend that much on a bag are you going to put it on the ground? I wouldn’t!).
