Floral Straw Newsboy at Anthropologie

This straw newsboy at Anthropologie is a great combination of adorable summer hat styles.
This handwoven straw cap has a beautiful raspberry ribbon with colorful stitched flowers. This is a very unique hat with the thick woven straw construction that is usually seen in the oversized floppy sun hats that have been popular this summer. The Flower Stand Newsboy uses the same material in a short-billed newsboy for a more practical hat that could be worn for sun protection or fashion.
Flower Stand Newsboy $38
This hat would be adorable paired with a casual boyish look. I would wear soft distressed boyfriend jeans, …read more
Fendi Rose-Detailed Oval Sunglasses

These vintage-inspired Fendi Rose-Detailed Oval Sunglasses are just gorgeous! I love everything about them. The oversized frames are acetate in a translucent plum color with the most delicate etching of tiny roses along the front of the frame. The oval-shaped lenses are oversized and in a smoky brown shade. These sunglasses are understated and elegant with small details and delicate colors. The vintage and subtle styles of this design are exactly what I am interested in this summer. No more huge logos and rhinestones!
Fendi Rose-Detailed Oval Sunglasses $325
The earthy tones and oval shape of these sunglasses are flattering on most …read more

I am loving the patterned acetate sunglasses that are popping up for summer. This expands on the idea of the colored frames and takes it further with multi-colored patterns on the frames. I posted recently about the Badgley Mischka Couture Eyewear in colorful floral patterns that were based on swimsuit fabrics, but now I am seeing other designers with patterned frames as well.
Badgley Mischka Euphoria in Orange $325
Bitty Bloom Sunglasses at Anthropologie $24
Dior 60’s Sunglasses in Panther at Saks Fifth Avenue $290
UO Floral Sunglasses at Urban Outfitters $9.99 (reg. $20)
Best Scents For Spring
May 8, 2009 by Michelle Smith

Spring has sprung and for many people that means getting outdoors as much as possible. It also means lighter layers, brighter colored-clothing, and an all-around festive feel. Spring is traditionally a time of regrowth or rebirth, joy and romance.
I like to wear a scent that echoes those feelings. Something in a floral, but no too flowery, not too sweet. I recently tried LaCoste’s fragrance Love Of Pink. It’s my daugther’s Spring-time signature scent and it’s new this season.
I like a base with some warmth and depth, a good grounding note. My favorite scent right now is Mantra. It’s a honeyed-musk …read more
Courtney Cox in the Spotlight

Courtney Cox is the face of Avon’s new fragrance Spotlight. Spotlight is a citrus-floral with a warm woody base.
The tag line is “Spotlight – Step Into It.” The idea behind the fragrance being that every woman is a star in her own right.
The choice of Courtney Cox as spokeswoman is interesting to me. She’s beautiful and she’s successful, but she’s also known for being a friend – both off and on-screen. Plus, she’s not a kid, which is something that I appreciate, because I’m in my 40s as well. She’s glamorous, but also grounded, which is what most women aspire …read more
Pocket-size Scent From Theme Fragrance

Theme Fragrance just released two new scents – Mantra and Song. I had the opportunity to try both of these, plus their best-selling Sarong scent, too.
Theme Fragrances are meant to flatter the individual’s own style. You can layer them to create something unique or wear them on their own. They come in a solid perfume or a roll-on oil, both are the perfect size to slip into your purse, pocket, or makeup bag.
Mantra, a “sensuous honeyed musk,” also carries notes of spring florals. It has a powdery scent and it’s now my new favorite. This is a soft, romantic musk …read more
New Spring Fragrance – Love of Pink
March 9, 2009 by Michelle Smith

LACOSTE’s new fragrance, Love of Pink, was developed with new love in mind. Feminine in color and spirit, the floral scent is meant to mimic the warmth, excitement, and celebration of falling in love.
It has a citrusy top note, a floral heart, and a base of musky woodiness. I like it, but I sometimes have a problem with florals. My daughter loved it and I’m pretty sure that when I finish writing this up, she’s going to snag it for herself. She’s worn it every day since it arrived in the mail.

ideas for weddings

I’m thrilled to be getting married this summer, and of course, wanted to do something a little different for my bridesmaids. Instead of going with the traditional “everyone in the same dress”, I asked my bridesmaids to choose their own dress patterns. Everyone will have the same fabric for the dresses and I found some gorgeous sheer printed organza to make shawls out of.
I wanted to share my floral brooches with my friends, and decided on this look:
Because I want to remain friends with my bridesmaids after my wedding, I felt it was better to give everyone as much choice …read more
