dragging hem solutions for your morning high heel commute

It’s getting to be that time of year again…
Rain…
Snow…
Grime…
Do you wear your favorite heels to the office in all that muck?
Of course not!
You switch to a flat shoe… which leaves your pant hems dragging on the ground behind you.
Blech urgh yuck.
Luckily for you, two sisters from Georgia came up with an easy solution to winter pant problems – they invented Zakkerz.
Zakkerz are small magnetic clasps that allow you to roll your hems up out of harms way – and then easily remove for your office high heels. They come in several different colors to blend in with your own clothing …read more
Fall jackets for blustery days

Well my lovely readers, let see – today is the official first day of Autumn, at least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.
It’s also Monday.
And it seems like the unseasonably warm weather I’ve been enjoying has come to an end. In fact, it’s pouring rain and is down to the single-didgets… brrrrrr!
So what’s my accessory pick for the day?
Jackets – stylish, feminine and useful jackets!
I love the detailling on this “Swing” raincoat by Manoush (I’m not sure how practical the 3/4 length sleeves would be on a day like today, where the rain is falling sideways though…)

I recently got to try out a “hip-T” – it’s basically the lower half of a t-shirt, with an elasticized waistband.
It was created by Christine & Kelley, two women who got tired of being self conscious while wearing their favorite low-rise jeans – after all, no one likes to flash their underwear!
The hip-t is worn over your pants, but underneath your shirt – it just looks like another t-shirt or lace-trimmed camisole underneath:
I tried my hip-t (disclosure, I got a free one to try out) during a shopping trip, driving my car and sitting in cafe having coffee. It fit …read more

I just recently came across designer Heather Elizabeth’s work, infused with the style and taste of her home, New Orleans. She uses photos of people & places from New Orleans to create her unique jewelry – here’s her ultra-suede Pendant Necklaces:
She also creates jewelry using crystal & silver for a more formal collection:
This is the Beaded Pendant Necklace, featuring a Versailles Fleur de Lis.

I have a fondness for independant designers and love to discover treasures on places like Etsy & a newcomer to the online world, ArtPlot.
These aluminum brooches are by Gemma Holmes, from her Pin-Ups series.
I’m not sure of the materials used for this picece by Tomoaki Orikasa – but I think it’s quite spectacular!

Okay, so Mother’s Day is tomorrow… and it’s probably too late to buy anything by mail – but there’s some lovely things out there that are perfect for Mother’s Day!
This sterling silver Mother/Daughter necklace is from Lotus Jewlery Studio.
Or how about a custom-made pendant with your baby photo? I’m sure your Mom would love that
