Unique Glass Jewelry from Jenny Gaynor

Designer Jenny Gaynor works with glass in some unusual ways.  Not only does she use glass that’s traditionally used for jewelry-making, a glass from Italy called “Moretti”, she also uses recycled glass to create her elegant and modern pieces.
In addition to her jewelry, Jenny also creates vases with photo transfers layered inside them.  All of her work is created by hand in her Los Angeles workshop.
Unfortunately, I can’t link to the individual pieces of jewelry, but you can find them by first selecting the “jewelry” tab on her site and scrolling down to find the piece you’re interested in.

Heart and crossbones are much more fun than a skull and crossbones

Here’s another jewelry pick for the girl who prefers her heart jewelry with an…. edge:

Or at least a pair of crossbones!
The heart & crossbones necklace is handmade from glass and features teensy little crossed bones behind the heart.  It’s strung on a hand-oxidized necklace (after all, silver chain just won’t do – you really need the black chain for this one
It’s also available in several different colors.

Black heart jewelry

Here’s a jewelry pick for those of you who prefer their hearts to be dark, mysterious and edgy… nothing pink and perky please!

The “Blakck & Rose” pendant is made from layers of glass, fused together and fitted with a sterling silver bail so it can be worn as a pendant.  It was designed and made by AW Designs UK.

Patriotic jewelry picks – vintage art pendants

We’re wrapping up today’s series on “Patriotic Jewelry” with a pendant that’s been created using vintage art by Archipelago Arts:

The pendant was created by layering both images between thin sheets of glass, and then sealing the edges using solder (almost like stained glass).  Either image is visible, depending on how you wear it.

The next pick for the “patriotic jewelry” of the day is the charming glass heart pendant from Risky Beads:

It’s accented with stripes of red and blue, wrapped around the heart.  Patriotic, but in a subtle way

indie jewelry from art festivals

I spent afternoon at a local arts festival – other than the tornado warnings, I had a lovely day!  This particular festival boasts a popular indie arts shopping market, which includes several talented jewelry designers.
Art festivals are one of my favorite places to discover new indie designers – you’ll never know what you might find.
I picked up this fabulous glass pendant:

It’s fused glass with layers of different colors and some metallic dust accents – it was ridiculously inexpensive too!
Don’t forget to check out the Beauty & Style’s channel indie maven, Kim – she writes the Indie Style File – our …read more

fused glass cocktail rings

Etsy is one of my favorite places to find unique, handmade jewelry… in fact, I probably shouldn’t spend so much time on their website – it can be an expensive habit
Krilla Glass is an Etsy seller who recently caught my attention – she makes funky and colorful fused glass jewelry, like this fun turquoise & lime green ring:

Now what’s a girl to do if turquoise and lime green aren’t your colors?  How about orange and yellow?
