Half gloves are a funny little accessory because they are purely fashion and no function.  I think of half gloves as the functionless other half of the very useful fingerless gloves!  The tiny gloves stop right at the bottom of the fingers, which leaves the palm and back of the hand completely open. They come in 4-finger or 5-finger styles so if you want extremely short gloves, you can choose the 4-finger style which doesn’t include the thumb.

This Kirna Zabete design is the favorite style that I have found.  Metal studs look great as embellishments on all types of accessories this Winter, so the look fits perfectly with the style.

Patricia Field 5-Finger Half Glove $48

Patricia Field is a friend of Sarah Jessica Parker and is the head costume designer for Sex and the City.  Field designs specific pieces for Carrie to wear, so I am assuming that these are the exact style that she wore in the movie.

Patricia Field Patent 4-Finger Half Gloves $28

While I appreciate impracticality in fashion, I do think that the 4-finger gloves are pushing it a little too far.  I don’t think they are as interesting as the 5-finger…

I think this the half glove is a great looking style that furthers the idea of the short motorcycle gloves that have been fashionable this season.  If you want to try this look, I would definitely wear them with a feminine and sophisticated dress or separates to avoid looking too costumey.  Leather gloves always look dressy so, similar to Jenny Humphrey’s idea, I think they would look great as evening wear.  It does seem like a fashion risk, but it would definitely look great with the right styling.

Would You Wear Half-Gloves?

This is really dope AND practical. It’s made of a combination of wool and angora that’s bound to be soft and cuddly, and lined in tie-dyed silk. It combines moto jacket styling with a utilitarian length and fabric. But, wait, even the back is cute.

New York Nat Headband Sweepstakes

I am completely mad for the puffy, drapey shoulders, the soft edges, and the detail around the waist. She looks so drop dead sexy and elegant at the same time that it’s hard to believe that this is Blair Waldorf! Not that Blair isn’t hot, she’s just a little preppy, and I imagine she would find this gown terribly, terribly gauche. But that’s Blair, and this is Leighton, and I think she looks fab, and that any bride would die to walk down the aisle in a timeless number like this one.

Leighton Meester’s Bottega Veneta Emmy Gown

I went over to my local Target today and browsed through the collection. Here are a few of my favourites from the line, based on what I saw up close and personal.

Lace Halter Dress ($69.99) – This dress has a really nice texture. The semi see-through lace is a little sexy without trying too hard. It’s not exactly a halter style as your whole back isn’t exposed but the collar is a cute touch.

Houndstooth Jacquard Dress ($69.99) – This dress is one of my favourites because it looks a lot more expensive than it is. The lace detail on the bottom is a nice touch as is the semi iridescent sheen of the fabric underneath.

Silk Wrap Dress ($59.99) – I love this dress because it felt really soft and is flowly. Definitely a dress that’s figure flattering.  The print may be a little loud of some people but you can easily tone it down with a blazer, cardigan or a cute sweater coat.

Herringbone Dress ($59.99) -  What I love about this dress is it has a ‘mod’ vibe. This would look killer with a long sleeve top (turtleneck!) underneath and boots!

Notice I only chose dresses. The tops I saw were cute but not anything you can’t find somewhere else. Overall the Anna Sui collection has quite a few items worth purchasing. Make sure to try these on, based on the reviews some of them run a bit small.

By the way, as a warning, the photos on the Target website are heinous (seriously!) so definitely go to the store because these are so much better in person!

Whenever I watch the show (and I DVR it too!), I keep and eye out on the handbags the girls are carrying. Some of the handbags I’ve purchased over the last year has been due to seeing it (and falling in love with it) on the show.

So if you’re a handbag fanatic like myself, watch closely this season and you’ll see a couple of the characters in the show (Serena aka Blake Lively and someone’s new love interest!) carrying the popular Be & D Cosette Satchel.

I have been eyeing this knotted silk headband since I first spotted a similar style on Gossip Girl last season.  It has multiple soft strands gathered and braided to create a beautiful piece in coral.  There is a thick elastic band at the bottom for a comfortable fit.

I also love this option on sale with a combination of patterned white and black with solid red silk strands.  These soft headbands look great with soft curls and a dressy look.  This season Eugenia Kim will release updates to this knotted Hailey style in new fabrics and colors.

I don’t know about you but the first thing I noticed when I saw this photo is her handbag.  Taylor Momsen is carrying the new Be & D Garbo Satchel ($1390) in black and I have to say, I’m really loving the bag!

It’s got quite a lot of studs in various sizes but aside from that, it’s a pretty basic looking bag.  This is the kind of bag you wear when you want to toughen up your outfit. Be & D Garbo Satchel

I would love to post about Jennifer Behr’s absolutely beautiful handmade headbands everyday, but at around $200 per piece I realize that unless you have the wealth of a character on Gossip Girl, you probably won’t be stocking up on these.  These hair accessories are definitely designed to be paired with elegant outfits for special occasions.

Solid Jet Black Padded Headband $220

My favorite Jennifer Behr piece right now is her jet black padded headband.  This puffy headband has a semi-circular cross-section that reminds me of a queen’s headdress.  It has large vintage faceted glossy black stones in a geometric pattern.  This looks absolutely gorgeous with a sleek updo and a soft dark dress.  I would love to wear this to a special event!  Next time I have to dress for a special occasion I will start with a Jennifer Behr accessory and work out to the clothes and shoes.
