This is my favorite piece because it carries the oversized floral idea into winter!  I was sad to put all of my Hawaiian-inspired brightly colored florals away, but this velvet rose in deep hues of midnight or burgundy is a perfect piece for a romantic winter hairstyle.

Can you tell that I love velvet for winter fashion?  Velvet accessories are fashionable this year, so this delicate velvet wreath headband is another favorite from Andrea’s holiday collection.  The gold works perfectly with dark colored hair.

This simple satin headband with a small bow comes in beautiful color options of charcoal, teal, magenta, and burgundy.  This girly touch would be the perfect accessory to pair with some of the menswear-inspired looks this winter like long blazers and boyfriend cardigans.

New York Nat Egyptian Hair Accessories

New York Nat is an accessories line started by dancer and former Miss America contestant Natalie Ann Griffith.  Her handband designs are girly and bold with pink velvet bows, intricately beaded appliques, and lime tulle.  I really love each piece because it is unique and incorporates the ideas of drama and elegance from the designer’s dancing background.

I love the designs of the Outside Voice and the Holler from Bambako’s new line.  They are made from striped grossgrain ribbon wrapped and then folded and bunched to create a beautifully textured bow.  The striping gives a fun nautical feel that can be interpreted as sporty or dressy.  And aren’t the names of the designs so cute?

I have been eyeing this knotted silk headband since I first spotted a similar style on Gossip Girl last season.  It has multiple soft strands gathered and braided to create a beautiful piece in coral.  There is a thick elastic band at the bottom for a comfortable fit.

I also love this option on sale with a combination of patterned white and black with solid red silk strands.  These soft headbands look great with soft curls and a dressy look.  This season Eugenia Kim will release updates to this knotted Hailey style in new fabrics and colors.

• rocker – The 80’s rocker looks that are influencing the clothes this season will also transform into accessories.  There will be black leather, metal studs, and sharp faceted beads.  If you wear a hard rocker hairpiece, make sure to wear softer romantic materials to balance the look.

• oversized bows – The dark colors and rich fabrics on the bows look great with a mini dress or polished look.  The look is sweet and romantic, but not schoolgirl.  It would be fun to pair some of Fall’s menswear-inspired looks with a contrasting feminine bow!

• sequins & sparkle – A little bit of sparkle goes a long way, so look for a minimal use of rhinestones and sequins on skinny headbands and hair clips.  Small sequins accessories can work during daytime in the Fall with a simple understated outfit.

• floral – The oversized blooms were everywhere this summer, but look for a cool weather version for Fall.  Stay away from summer brights, and instead look for soft florals in dark colors and fabrics.

• beads – There is lot of variety in the beaded appliques and headbands that can add a lot of color and intrigue to an outfit.  Look for vintage and ethnic pieces.  You could make a great headband with a strip of elastic and a found vintage beaded piece.

Top Hair Accessories Trends For Fall

The Resort Glamour collection has vibrant colors and patterns inspired by island fashion and vintage designs.  All of the pieces have a bright and summery look in shades of pink, turquoise, and yellow.

I wear this one all the time!  This pink and white fabric flower is attached to a ponytail holder so you can easily add summer style to your hair.  The flower has a pin in the back so it can also be removed and used as a barrette.

My go-to hairstyle when I don’t have time to blowdry my hair is the claw clip.  Just twist it up and it looks great!  These are a fun and vibrant take on the traditional claw clip.

I would love to post about Jennifer Behr’s absolutely beautiful handmade headbands everyday, but at around $200 per piece I realize that unless you have the wealth of a character on Gossip Girl, you probably won’t be stocking up on these.  These hair accessories are definitely designed to be paired with elegant outfits for special occasions.

Solid Jet Black Padded Headband $220

My favorite Jennifer Behr piece right now is her jet black padded headband.  This puffy headband has a semi-circular cross-section that reminds me of a queen’s headdress.  It has large vintage faceted glossy black stones in a geometric pattern.  This looks absolutely gorgeous with a sleek updo and a soft dark dress.  I would love to wear this to a special event!  Next time I have to dress for a special occasion I will start with a Jennifer Behr accessory and work out to the clothes and shoes.

Jennifer Behr Black Stone Headband

Check out the charming “Monarch Butterfly” headband from Etsy seller, Charm School Design.

These aren’t real butterflies (thank goodness!) but realistic looking butterflies made from feathers.  Wouldn’t this make an adorable headband for a bride or just for summer fun?

Charm School Design can also make this in custom colors, so if orange isn’t your color – you’ve got a rainbow of possibilities.
