Finding Freedom with HairFree Brushes

Let me start off by saying that when I received my box of HairFree brushes, my skepticism was sky-high. In short, these brushes promise to not only be self-cleaning but also give you a sleek, smooth, styling – sans flat iron.
I muttered to myself all the way to the vanity.
But then I ended up being a bit surprised…
The brushes work by using ceramic coated plates and an adjustable knob that converts the brushes into vent brushes, letting air flow in to speed up the drying process. And while I can’t agree that it can REPLACE the hair dryer/flat iron process …read more

How Much Hair in Your Brush Is Too Much?

I’m sort of freaking out.
This morning, I was blowing out my hair, and I noticed a TON in my brush. Like, more than usual.
As I have a history of breakage, and have been less-than-on-top of my vitamins lately, I fear that this ailment may be happening again!
What causes breakage and hair loss? Well, tons of factors – but styling can be one of them! Brushing often is supposed to help – it increases circulation – but I brush my hair several times a day! So, that’s not the reason.
Tight ponytails can also cause hair loss because this puts additional tension …read more

$169 Hair Brush

Here I am thinking anything more than $10 is a ridiculously expensive hair brush. You could have knocked my head off with a frying pan when I saw this $169 Mason Pearson hair brush. So what makes this such an expensive hairbrush? It’s made by Mason Pearson which happens to be the premier hair brush manufacturer based in England.
Furthermore:
The distinctive design incorporates spired, uneven tufts of boar bristle and nylon mixture in the pneumatic rubber pad that enables each individual tuft to penetrate through the scalp and maximize the health and appearance of the hair and scalp. This hairbrush is …read more

Luxor Pro Tourmaline Paddle Brush

Hairstylist Richard Collins picked a Tourmaline Poly Pin paddle brush in the past issue (November 2008) of ELLE magazine. He said a flat brush like the Tourmaline paddle brush will help you achieve a “classic and beautiful” hair style. A flat brush like this makes it easy for anyone to have that subtle style changes in hairstyles.
I don’t know about you but looking at the flat brush, I almost feel like brushing my hair until it’s all smooth and shiny. It’s been a while since I actually sat down and brushed my hair at night. It reminds me …read more

What’s With Denman Brushes?

The famous Denman anti-static rubber pad provides maximum grip and control during blowdrying for smoothing, shaping and polishing the hair.
In my highschool days, the “in” brush was definitely Denman. Everyone who’s who in school would have it, and it was the “brush to have,” actually. But owning Denman brushes are definitely more than status symbols. I assure you that.
When I got my first Denman brush in a simple Classic D3 style, I remember carefully scrutinizing every detail it had – it had sturdy bristles ( smooth nylon pins as the website calls it ), all flexible, and durable. When I …read more
