Winter Hair Care Tips

Brr, baby it’s getting cold, and we have to give that consideration when planning our hair care. I consulted Patrick Wellington of Wellington Hair Spa, he had some great tips on little ways we can begin to make a big difference.
Conditioning
During the dry winter months, there is little moisture in the air and the hair and scalp tend to dry out more easily. After every shampoo, put a deep conditioner in your hair and leave it in for a minimum of 3-5 minutes.
Roller Setting
If you have medium to long length hair, instead of using a flat or curling iron, set …read more

Thought Fashion Week was over?
Well, over in LA, it’s in full swing, and Alterna Haircare created the hair look for the Kevan Hall this past Saturday.
Held at the Universal Studios Hollywood back lot, theHall’s vintage-inspired, elegant gowns were featured, and Alterna’s Global Creative Director, Michael Shaun Corby, complemented them with modern-day beehives.
To achieve the dramatic, high-fashion look, Corby utilized Alterna’s CAVIAR Anti-aging Working Hair Spray for flexible hold and Hemp Spray Shine for a high-gloss finish.
Here’s the step-by-step guide to recreating this look at home:
1. Mount volume-enhancing mousse, such as Alterna’s Life Solutions Volumizing Spray Mousse, into damp hair …read more
Humidity vs. Hair: The Battle Continues

Praise the Lord!
Today, I am wearing not flip flops, but suede boots. And while many of my loved ones are mourning the loss of summer, I couldn’t be happier. Why? Because summer humidity ending means that my hair might just look halfway decent. And that, ultimately, matters to me a lot more than one more beach day.
However, it’s just a vision of things to come: summer still has a few weeks of strength left, and for many of you, the humidity ain’t going anywhere. That doesn’t mean you all cannot still look fabulous.

Girl-Approved Hair Care For Men

Have you seen those new Axe ads on television. The girls looking for the “dirty boys“? My favorite is the one where the boy is busting a move, then they grab him and wash his dandruff-y hair. Dandruff-y hair is yuck, but cute boy dancing like nobody is watching, adorable.
My boys – 17 and 18 – had the opportunity to try a couple of products from Axe’s girl-approved hair line. They tried the Primed Just Clean shampoo and the Clean Cut Look Pomade.
The shampoo has a great scent and it’s great for removing product build-up. The pomade gave Max control …read more

Dove just sent the results of a horrifying study into women and hair damage.
According to their results, the average woman’s daily hair-care routine takes 35 minutes, 30 of which are spent on damage causing activities!!! Even if your hair LOOKS good, it may actually be falling apart.
Here’s some of our habits that are sending our hair to hell:
Hair Brushing: 82 percent of women brush their hair daily or more, which can cause up to 23 percent more damage to hair
Ponytail Holders: Nearly half of women hold their hair in ponytail holders once a week or more, which can cause …read more

Here I am thinking anything more than $10 is a ridiculously expensive hair brush. You could have knocked my head off with a frying pan when I saw this $169 Mason Pearson hair brush. So what makes this such an expensive hairbrush? It’s made by Mason Pearson which happens to be the premier hair brush manufacturer based in England.
Furthermore:
The distinctive design incorporates spired, uneven tufts of boar bristle and nylon mixture in the pneumatic rubber pad that enables each individual tuft to penetrate through the scalp and maximize the health and appearance of the hair and scalp. This hairbrush is …read more

Have you ever been to LA?
I have, just twice, and both times made me really wish I could stay. And right in the heart of it all, in Beverly Hills, is Stuart Gavert’s Gavert Atelier.
Even in the most fashion forward and opulent of hoods (you may be familiar if you ever saw an episode of 90210), it’s a recession. During these harder financial times, Gavert created some techniques of helping his clients stretch times between visits. He was awesome enough to share them with us, and I think they are ones you should go armed with when you visit your …read more

It’s still mighty cold out there. And in some States, snow is still pouring. Some of you are probably keeping your head war with winter hats. How about something to help your hair from being attacked with static once you take the hat off? DStat Static Relief should be something to check out.
You can avoid static by spraying or swiping your hair with DStat before putting the hat on. It helps clam the flyaways which is a direct result of the fabric getting in contact with the hair.
