New York Nat Egyptian Hair Accessories

I am still loving hair accessories line New York Nat!  I discovered Natalie Ann Griffith’s glamorous and unique headbands about a month ago when she was hosting a fabulous Sweepstakes for a reader to win six New York Nat headbands.
New York Nat just released a beautiful holiday collection of Egyptian-inspired pieces.  The six headbands in the collection use vivid colors of turquoise, fuschia, and gold with enormous brighly colored gemstones and Swarovski crystals.  The styles are eye-catching and unique, which makes them the perfect accessory to spice up your favorite black cocktail dress for an upcoming holiday party.

Sequined Leaf Headband by Ice Cream Candy

In the past year or so, a number of headband trends have come along. There was the feather fascinator trend of last spring, and looking even further back, the preppy Blair Waldorf headband trend of last fall. Oh yeah, and the skinny hippie/hipster headband look of Nicole Ritchie, there was that, too. I, for one, think it’s time for some new hairwear.

I’m completely nuts for this take on the headband. It’s totally glam, but lies flat on your head, unlike most fascinators. And stylistically, I think it could go from night on the town to ubergoth with a quick change …read more

Champagne Floral Headband by Eden’s Wake

There’s a lot of choices in the land of wedding headgear. Veils, fascinators, veil-fasinator combos, halos, you name it. But with wedding dresses getting simpler, it’s about time wedding hairwear got simpler, too.

This beautiful elastic headband is chic and pared down. I can imagine it working with a lot of dress styles, even more complicated ones. I love the soft, sheer look of the flowers. I like the contrast with dark hair, but honestly, I think it might be nicer on a fair haired woman, that way the headband would just disappear. Available for $9 from Eden’s Wake.

I have more gorgeous headbands to share with you!  If you love hair accessories, then this is definitely the year for you because creative designers are popping up everywhere with fabulous new headband lines.
New York Nat is an accessories line started by dancer and former Miss America contestant Natalie Ann Griffith.  Her handband designs are girly and bold with pink velvet bows, intricately beaded appliques, and lime tulle.  I really love each piece because it is unique and incorporates the ideas of drama and elegance from the designer’s dancing background.

Celebrity Style On A Budget – Salma Hayek

Actress Salma Hayek rocked some seriously glamorous jewelry at the ALMA Awards last night.
She wore large, square faceted earrings, a sparkling headband and a multi-strand necklace:
If you’d like to try out her jewelry look yourself, but don’t have a movie star budget – I’ve got a few low-cost options for you!
Let’s begin with layering these two necklaces together:

The “Marie” jeweled necklace from Forever 21, $12.80.

And the “Puffed” rhinestone necklace, $8.80, also from Forever 21.
You could throw a third necklace on top, to mimic the square crystals, but I honestly think that those two necklaces are going to be enough …read more

Headbands To Wear To A Summer Wedding

I just found the most beautiful headbands from BeSomethingNew on Etsy.  All of the headbands are handmade with a delicate, antique, and feminine feel.  Most of the headbands use materials like lace, silk flowers, beads, and pearls and some have unique pieces like vintage cameos, netting, glass beads, and metal charms.
There are so many headband designers out there, but these pieces truly stand out as unique and beautiful to me.  They have a muted color palette and sophisticated style.  I think these headbands would be the perfect accessory to wear to a summer wedding.  You could wear one of these …read more
