Sure, those chunky details have been around for years… but they’re more at home on a punked-out leather jacket or belt.  You can find them on some decidedely feminine footwear now too.

Check out the “Rendel” pump from Vince Camuto – it’s a classic pump, accented with a pretty bow on the toe, right?

Take a closer look at that bow…

Yes, that’s right – those are studs all over that bow.

Metal accents are showing up on boots as well – the classic wedge heel slouch boot has been given a dose of sex appeal with the addition of some studded straps:

But because Naughty Monkey has gone for brass studs on the “Ring Maestro” boot it’s not overwhelming.

Spiky, Strappy Fun with Shoes

The five and a half inch heel is brown and gold. Unlike many other heels, this heel is set a bit apart from the body of the boot. That is some serious boot love there.  The platform measure one and one fourth inches long and includes three tiers (brown, black and orange). My favorite tier of them all is the orange tier. The orange really makes these outrageously expensive boots pop.  The body of the boot is brown and black and laces up.

These boots are seriously fabulous. First on my list of things to do to wear these is to learn how to walk in five inch heels. Next would be save up an extreme amount of money, $1,364 for these shoes. These are a serious dream purchase. So, ladies, the holidays are quickly approaching. Put these on your list!

Proenza Schouler High Heel Boots

You can find anything from booties with ruffles to lace pumps.  There are tall boots with soft gathers and peep-toe heels with over-the-top glitter or crystals.

Some designers are choosing the poke holes in the trend though – literally!

Stuart Weitzman has used an intricate laser-cut suede shaft on his gorgeous tall suede boots:

That’s certainly one of the loveliest boots I’ve come across this fall!

Stella McCartney has used perforated metallic material to create her ballerina flats.  The information doesn’t mention what the uppers are made from, but I’m going to guess that it’s a synthetic – this is Stella McCartney after all…

I wouldn’t wear them in damp weather, but I love the iron color.

While I still don’t think that cage boots are all that practical for true winter weather, I couldn’t resist adding Manolo Blahnik’s black calfskin pair:

Hey, it’s got a closed toe – that’s got to add to the insulation value, right?

Seeing Holes for Fall 2009?

Proper, upstanding boots are relaxing a little and the slouch has returned.

You can find tall slouchy boots, slouchy boots with heel heels or flats and there are some cute slouchy booties out there as well.

Slouchy boots can actually be a very versatile addition to your accessories wardrobe.  You can pull them up tall with some outfits, or leave them low for another look.

The leather  “Odanak” bootie by Coclico has a faux-spat or gaiter accent that actually closes with a hidden velcro panel.

The Chie Mihara “Aunsi” boot has a unique cuff detail, with ruched leather and three button accents.  It’s got an elastic gore on the inner calf for easy on and off.
