Home Fragrance: DIY Scented Pine Cones

I was running errands yesterday, hurrying, filling my cart, when all of a sudden I smelled the familiar scent of cinnamon. Cinnamon-scented pine cones. I love those things and I grab a bag every year. They make my whole home smell like the holidays.
You can make them yourself. Purchase or collect about 2 pounds of pine cones. The cones are part of a visual display, so pick pretty ones. The cones that are open give you more area to cover with scent, so keep that in mind, as well.

DIY Home Fragrance

I have one of those little fragrance oil burners that I use to heat scented oil. As the oil heats, it releases it’s fragrance in the house. The scent is strong and it quickly makes me whole house smell beautiful. Unfortunately, I am limited by the choices offered in the stores and the little bottles of oil can get pricey.
By using essential oils – either in combination or as a single scent – and floating them in little bit of water, I can save money and tailor the fragrance to my own taste and mood. You can find essential oils in health food …read more
Home Fragrance: Febreze Home Collection

When Febreze first came onto the market, I did not like the product. The idea of a spray that “cleaned” was a good one, but the smell gave me a headache. Febreze has worked on their scent and now I regularly use the Lavender Vanilla & Comfort scent to freshen areas around my house.
I like the new Febreze Home Collection with the Flameless Luminary, Scented Reed Diffuser set, Soy Blend Candles, and Room Spray. The products are available in Herbal, Fruity & Refreshing, Natural, and Seasonal scent categories.
I really like the Flameless Luminary in particular. It’s cute and it gives the appearance of …read more
Home Fragrance-Highly Scented Tyler Candles

While window shopping with my pal, Leah, on Friday, I found a brand of highly-scented soy and paraffin blend candles that I am now in love with. The Tyler Candle Company’s home fragrance line has candles, laundry scents, fragrance oil to be used with reeds, and bath and body itemswith names like Beach Blonde, 24K, Baby Doll, Diva, PMS, Girly Girl, and Glamtastic. They have a layered note effect that reminds me of how a parfum is built.
Here’s a description of Beach Blonde, which is one of the two fragrances that I purchased:

Room Remodel Starts with Home Fragrance
July 31, 2009 by Michelle Smith

I’ve been looking around my home, dreaming of a makeover. I will get to it all, eventually, but some of the purchases I want (and need) to make are pricey. I need a new couch, for one thing. The one that I have is comfy – everyone mentions this when they sit on it – but it’s broken and I’m worried that at some point one of my guests is going to let out a hearty laugh and break through to the floor. That would be embarrssing.
A room remodel can get pricey, so I’m going to start small – paint, …read more
Jo Malone’s Refreshing Orange Blossom Scent

Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom fragrance collection includes just about anything you’d need for home or personal fragrance. My favorite is the Orange Blossom Luxury Candle that burns for hours and casts a lovely light with it’s 4 wicks.
Orange Blossom is a light, fresh scent – very refreshing to wear during this hot, steamy weather (over 100F where I live today. Ack!!).
Also included in the collection are Cologne, Shower Gel, Orange Blossom Body Creme, Body Lotion, and a smaller candle.
Fragrance notes: Clementine, Orange Blossom, Water Lily
You can receive a free 9ml sample of Jo Malone’s Grapefruit Cologne by using the offer code JMFLORALS …read more

Mrs. Meyer’s Soy candles are on sale at Drugstore.com right now. They are currently 10% off, but for more even more savings, click here. Many of the Mrs. Meyer’s products are included in the sale.
Soy candles burn clean and are better for lung health than traditional candles made from petroleum products. A non-lead wick, like those used here, are an additional safety measure. Each 7.2 ounce Mrs. Meyer candle burns for 35 hours and are available in Geranium, Lavender, and Lemon Verbena. Mrs. Meyer’s recommends trimming each candle wick to a quarter inch before lighting and burn for 2-3 hours …read more

Lovely Fragrance Oil Burner
July 14, 2009 by Michelle Smith

I use a little fragrance oil burner in my living room. I like the way it adds a good burst of fragrance very quickly, but the burner itself is fairly utilitarian and boring. I want to find something that has more decorative flair. Something like this Flower Garland Burner from The Body Shop.
This lovely burner has a frosted flowery look. It’s heated with a tealight, which makes the subtle decoration come alive. You can use the burner anywhere inside your home or to scent your patio when you are relaxing outdoors.
The Body Shop has a wide variety of fragrance oils. …read more
