Boo!
It’s almost Halloween, and in this economy, we aren’t all prepared to blow loads of cash on pricey wigs and hair pieces to complete our costume.
But what if we could do it ourselves, at home? I consulted celebrity hair expert Moulay Yacoubi, who shared some great news: Hot Halloween looks can be recreated with your own hair, at home, easy and cheaply! Here’s some of Moulay’s tips!
For short hair – try the Rihanna look:
1. Use damp unwashed hair, treated with a light mousse.
2. Pull hair from the middle …read more

Most of us don’t have the time and money to visit a manicurist regularly to get our nails taken care of professionally, so it’s important to take the right steps to take care of them at home. Do You Like It Rough?

A hot hair trend this season is the, “rough, messed wave,” my new friends at Studio RK, of Fort Myers, Florida tell me.
The look gives you that voluminous, wild, “supposed to not be perfect” look.
I for one love to be a little wild, and so to recreate the look, the salon offered these steps:
1. Mist Redken’s Wool Shake on damp hair and towel dry. Wool Shake will give you hair texture and increase volume.
2. Grab 1 inch sections and wrap hair around a 1 ½ …read more

You know those days when you throw your hair back for a long day at work…and then last-minute find out about a hot party going on that night?
The big issue for me, always, is how to adapt my hair!
We consulted expert stylist Mimi Lee, from LUX Salon in Atlanta and Mimi suggested the following trick for super-easy day-to-night styling.
1. Apply mousse or cream to damp hair. (She likes Sebastian Whipped Creme or Davines Universal Mattering Mousse)
2. Braid or French braid hair.
(TIP: Remember where you start the braid is where you will see wave, so you will want to start lower …read more

One-shouldered gowns are the look of the moment. Well, one of them, anyways. But, how do you wear this one shouldered look without coming off like a disco princess wannabe? Here’s three ways, courtesy of Badgley Mischka.
This silk chiffon one-shouldered gown really makes a statement, and it isn’t “take me to the roller rink”. This drapey, dead sexy take on the one-shouldered look makes it black tie or red carpet ready. One way to keep a one-shouldered look current is by making sure it’s composed of a nice, sophisticated fabric, and not a shiny poly blend. Available for $459 (from …read more
DIY Home Fragrance

I have one of those little fragrance oil burners that I use to heat scented oil. As the oil heats, it releases it’s fragrance in the house. The scent is strong and it quickly makes me whole house smell beautiful. Unfortunately, I am limited by the choices offered in the stores and the little bottles of oil can get pricey.
By using essential oils – either in combination or as a single scent – and floating them in little bit of water, I can save money and tailor the fragrance to my own taste and mood. You can find essential oils in health food …read more

If you love the colored acetate sunglasses, you are probably wondering how to pick which color is right for you. Styles like the Ray Ban Wayfarers and Carrera plastic aviators are so adorable and come in every color that you can imagine. I would suggest picking a color that works well with your skin tone instead of worrying about pairing with colors in your wardrobe. The color of your sunglasses doesn’t need to match your clothes, they just have to look good on you!
Here are some tips for picking sunglasses in the right color for you:

It’s all about the “wave” for summer.
Luckily, creating great waves can be easy. Forget the kinky, crunchy curls of the 1980’s, this season’s look is all about creating soft, glamorous texture from the modernized “S” curl to a “just been to the beach” wave.
My friends at Studio RK, a full-service salon located in Fort Myers, Florida helped us with some tips for creating the modernized “S” curl. It’s a must-try!
If your hair is naturally curly:

How to Wear a Straw Cowboy Hat This Summer
July 14, 2009 by Kelli DesRochers

I realized that I have never posted about a cowboy hat for summer. Even though they are at every hat store at the beach and one of the most recognizable styles of hat, I think that it’s actually pretty difficult to pull off the look. If you work too hard on your outfit it could like a Halloween costume and if you just throw it on you could look like Britney Spears on one of her bad days.
If you are a cowboy hat kind of girl then you probably already know what works for you. If you do like this …read more
