Is Something Chewing On Your Ankle

Shoes should inspire delight, envy, confidence and sex appeal.
In my opinion, they should not make the average person on the street wonder if your shoes are trying to knaw off your ankles.
Example:

There are lots of great ways to wear animal prints.
Wedges can be an easier way to wear heels for some women.
Peep-toes can add a little dash of sex appeal to a plainer shoe.
These leopard-print wedges from Giuseppe Zanotti are none of the above.  I’m sure someone, somewhere can pull them off – but they remind me of part of a “cave woman” costume for Halloween.

Ballerina Flat + Gladiator Sandal =

Ballerina Flat + Gladiator Sandal =

A really bizarre shoe…
And if the combination of ballerina flat and gladiator sandal wasn’t odd enough – it’s made out of a “hypoallergenic plastic material”.
Should Crocs make these instead of Melissa & Vivienne Westwood?
I think it’s time that you made your own decision…

Opinions, please?
I will admit to wearing plastic shoes when I’m out walking my dogs or doing lawn work – but this combination still makes me scratch my head.
Am I missing something?  Is this the most genius shoe design you’ve ever seen?  Let me know!

Especially hot pink Muppets.
Seriously, leave the puppets alone and pull on something something… I don’t know, stylish, or attractive – I can even work with trendy here!
You want a bold color?  Let’s see what we can find that won’t make my eyes ache…
How about the “Denver” boot by David Tate?

No?  You still want hot pink?  Maison Martin Margiela may have the boot for you:

Her Accessories – favorite fashion picks from 2008

It’s become a tradition for me to do a year-end round up of my favorite fashion accessory picks from the year.  I’ve got great designs, hot celebrity styles… and possibly even a fashion goof-up as well!
in no particular order – but with a sense of fun, here you go

Beyonce’s (or I should say “Sasha’s”) robot glove is definitely a style goof – at least to me…
I think Michelle Obama is ushering in an era of elegant and yet low-key style to the White House.

Are you dressing up as a slutty pirate this Halloween?

Do you need the perfect finishing touch for your pirate-in-a-bordello costume?
May I suggest the “Promiscuous” thigh-high boot?

It’s red cuffs and polished leather finish are guaranteed to make the pirate of your choice exclaim “Arrrrr me hearties!”

Neil Patrick Harris as the shoe fairy

Okay, how can this not put a smile on your face?

or you could spend a lot of money on trendy shoes…

In my last post I shared some of my favorite picks for saving money on classic accessories.  There is of course, the dark side of buying accessories on sale…
You could fall in love with a still-expensive, but on sale, ridiculously-trendy, about-to-go-out-of-style-in-five-minutes pair of shoes like these Jimmy Choos:

Those, by the way are the “Lester“, with faux-zebra printed Pony accented with snakeskin – although it doesn’t say whether the snakeskin is real or faux…
Sometimes, it’s better to think twice than end up with a pair of shoes that will live out their lives in the back of your closet.

a rare fashion stumble from Louboutin

a rare fashion stumble from Louboutin

Okay, I was browsing through Bluefly when Christian Louboutin’s name caught my eye.
Louboutin – on sale – how could I resist?
Until I came across these babies…

My first reaction was…
Hooker boots – really, really expensive hooker boots!
They’re on sale for $1260.00.
Let’s face it – how many “real” women can pull these off?
Is this not look best left as a concept for the runway?
I’m sure a hip and/or trendy nineteen year old in a size 00 could pull these off… but I don’t think I could even pull them on…

is there such a thing as an over-decorated sandal?

is there such a thing as an over-decorated sandal?

Now, before I begin – I will freely admit that I am grumpy.  I may be slightly less forgiving when it come to questionable accessories than I might normally be.
Even so…
These sandals from Sigerson Morrison just don’t seem quite right to me:

Is it the braided patent leather?
The layers of leather circles on the top of the sandals?
Or the white leather ties that stick out like little fingers – how long until your cat chews those off?
At least I don’t think it’s a mystery why the sandal is now on sale, for a measly $274.0 – better than $429.00!
