There will surely be some funny stories and things we learn about the show tonight…but the most important thing we’ll find out…who wins!

That’s right, it’s all come down to this…Issac, Kelly and Fern will unveil the winner who will take home the grand prize of $125,000. Will it be Daniella? Anna? James-Paul? I know who I picked, but it’s in the hands of millions of voters to make the final call.

The Fashion Show: Season Finale Part 2!

Then there was Reco’s candy colored dress. I honestly can’t stand this one bit – dropped waists are so unflattering if you are not shaped like a boy. And the bright colors just remind me of something Barbie would wear! It is all just too much.

Anna surprised me too this week…but not for the better. Maybe it’s just not my style, but the giant floral print combined wiht the shoulder bow just felt a bit tacky and soooo unlike her! Usually Anna’s designs are my favorite, but this was a very disappointing attempt at eveningwear, in my opinion.

I can’t even remember a time where James-Paul created something I actually liked. I think it was way at the very beginning! But week after week I become less and less enthused with him as a designer. I felt this looked like a goth prom dress gone bad.

We’re down to the final four – and this week we will find out the winner! Who do you think will win? Daniella, Reco, Anna or James-Paul?

The Fashion Show: Episode 10 Best and Worst

Merlin didn’t make the grade with his strange sweatsuit and yellow coat. I have to admit, I actually really like the yellow coat a lot – but the rest of it is just too weird and unflattering for him to have stayed in the competition any longer.

How Johnny escaped being in the bottom two, I do not know. Even though the idea of sweats on the runway makes me feel a little bit nauseous, this is the worse outfit for me. A bow? That skirt? The one sleeve? I would have hoped that at this point it would be more a matter of technique, not style with the final few designers.

Then there was James-Paul, who once ruled this competition and is now seems to be suffering from some serious designer’s block. What was he thinking? This whole dress from color to shape to fabric is completely misconceived.

Things started to improve with Reco’s futuristic pantsuit. I liked the whole thing a lot more once the jacket came off – that blouse is lovely. But even though the stripes look nice on this model’s pin thin legs, I’m not sure if that would translate well to curvier figures.

Daniella, who wasn’t really around much in this episode, put forward a pretty design which totally looks like something she would put together for herself. Given how strong she has been in the past several episodes, I hope she continues to innovate and this doesn’t signal her running low on ideas…

And finally, we have Anna – who I’m completely head over heels for after seeing this dress. It’s cute, it’s flirty and it looks like something you could see in a store window tomorrow. That’s about ten steps above everything else on the runway this week!

The Fashion Show: Episode 9 Best and Worst

The pressure is on when the designers get a gift from Issac: a silk robe that will be what they have for inspiration in the Harper’s Bazaar Mini Challenge. The task? Design a complete loungewear set. I’ll bet more than a couple people get a bit frazzled!

After the mini challenge, the designers visit a psychic to help determine what their fate in the competition will be…who will be eliminated? Who will make it to the finale (just three weeks away!)?

The legendary Vivienne Tam stops by to join the judges as a guest too…should be a great episode! Though I’m not sure if I buy the tarot cards giving us any further insight into who will come out on top in this competition…!

The Fashion Show: Airs TONIGHT!

As for the winning design from Johnny…I must say, I was disappointed to see a basic black dress be picked once again. There were other designs that seemed far better to me, such as Anna’s black and white shift dress which came down the runway paired with a cute cropped pink jacket. A little bit flapper-esque, it just seemed so polished and like something I can imagine hanging in a high end boutique.

Though she annoys the heck out of me, Daniella’s design was also once again one of my favorites. Fantastic use of color and detail to make the bottom flair out and still look super flattering.

As for my least favorite dresses, Reco’s red “bar wench” dress really was awful. I chuckled when I saw this one coming down the runway, knowing full well that Reco was going to get completely blasted by the judges.

And then of course, there was Haven’s brown one piece pantsuit…which looks a little bit like long johns, if you ask me. I think Haven has done some great work…but much as I don’t have to like it, this was definitely her week to go home.

So even though I don’t quite agree with the judges’ choice for a winner, I was happy to see that the right people landed in the bottom two this week.

The Fashion Show: Episode 8 Best And Worst

It’s very cute, though I don’t think the little bit of bare midriff is really necessary..other than that, I agree this is a good design.

One of my other favorites was Anna’s Goth look – even though it’s not really very goth, and it was better looking without the jacket, I really enjoyed the neckline of the blouse and thought this was a punchier pink to have picked for the runway. I haven’t really paid much attention to Anna’s work before, but I think I will now…

Another one of the designs that stood out for me was Daniella’s Treehugger outfit. It was more of a risk and showed extra creativity compared to the other designs offered in this challenge. Instead of sticking to the stereotype, I feel like she injected a bit of that high fashion-ness that made it more than just clothes.

And now onto some of the least appealing designs this week…

Lidia’s Nerd was a disaster for me. This school girl uniform says nothing about the girl who escaped high school to evolve into something more during her 20s. It’s sad, droopy and totally unrealistic. I felt this was definitely the worst design of the bunch.

Of course, that would be followed up with Johnny’s Jock – which, sure it makes sense that this is a sporty look, but talk about phoning it in! There isn’t an ounce of creativity or personal flair going on here…I wonder if Johnny will go on to design anything more than basic t-shirts for a massive chain after this show. Booooring…

And finally, there is Angel. Poor Angel and her very uneducated attempt at a B-girl look. Most people I’ve asked and almost every single article I’ve read has suggested that 80% of the population never knew that word before this episode. But regardless of what inspired it, she didn’t attack the challenge with any gusto – so it just looks unpolished and unfortunate. Probably doesn’t help that her model isn’t even trying to carry it off with confidence.

The Fashion Show: Episode 6 Best and Worst

The Harper’s Bazaar Mini Challenge is about designing t-shirts for student body presidential candidate, Julianna inspired by one of the following high school cliques.

• Drama Club (Reco)
• Skater (Haven)
• Jocks (Johnny)
• Tree-Hugger (Daniella)
• Mean Girls (Merlin)
• Preppy Crew (James-Paul)
• Goths (Anna)
• Nerds (Lidia)
• B-Girls (Angel)

Complicated? Well, they are t-shirts – so it shouldn’t be that hard to do…but then again, they only had an hour to do it and the final designs weren’t all that spectacular. Daniella wins the mini challenge…again.

Next, the designers must create an outfit for the girl who was part of their clique from the mini challenge…who is now in her mid 20s. Time is running thin too – designs must be ready for the runway the next day!

The designers are stressed, tension is high, and Merlin almost has a complete meltdown when Kelly and Issac stop by and start second guessing his work. How can Merlin be so confused about the definition of “mean”?? Better yet is when they stop by Johnny’s station to snark for a few questions about the Fred Flintstone look he’s wearing – now that was hilarious!

I think Anna’s Goth look actually had a lot of potential, even though it didn’t really fit with the stereotype. Merlin and Haven’s designs are named the best and in the end, Merlin wins.

Then there was poor Angel…oh, she tried. She gave it her best shot, having no clue what “B-girls” meant at all – but ultimately, you could see how that sad little puffy vest wasn’t going to make a good impression in front of the judges. None of the designs this week were particularly fantastic, but hers was just lost from the start. Johnny’s Jock look is also pretty laughable, but I really felt bad for the way Angel was raked over the coals for not knowing the term. Kelly Rowland looked visibly offended. Geez, guys…just send her home and put her out of her misery…

Which they do – but not before Issac Mizrahi goes on a tirad about what fashion is all about while the designers stand there and nervously take it. Pressure’s on guys…it’s down to eight designers for next week!

The Fashion Show: Episode 6

I didn’t have a clear favorite this week, but I did enjoy Reco’s smart looking red and grey outfit – the tailoring was sexy but not trashy (we’ll get to an example of that later…) and the model just looked so happy wearing it.

I also thought Lydia’s dress was quite pretty – the neckline was very interesting and I could see this flattering a variety of body types, not just her model. The way the waist is cinched together is just fantastic!

Somehow I think I might be the only person in the world who didn’t completely hate Merlin’s outfit. Sure, he worked with a tweed, a challenging fabric, but I thought the model looked very chic…funny how he was essentially using the same colors as he did last week, but this was a very big improvement to me.

Now, let’s talk about the worst fashions…

What was Johnny thinking putting his model in this little hoochie mama dress?! This wouldn’t be a pretty look on a girl shaped like a toothpick or his absolutely beautiful curvy model…or for that matter any woman shaped anyway in between! Bottom line…it just looks cheap and trashy.

Then there was Haven’s pink and black minidress with a weird mini cape accent around her neck…this looks like a bathrobe gone totally wrong. I have no idea how Haven stayed in the competition with this one because honestly…I think I actually said the words “BLECH…” right out loud when her model came on the the TV. There was so much she could have done to really accentuate her model’s best assets but right here all I’m noticing is disproportion between her top and bottom halves…just disappointing.

SO…do I think Keith should have been sent home? No. These two dresses were way more off the mark to me. We’ll see if somehow Johnny and Haven can pull it together next week…I wonder if Merlin will cry again…

The Fashion Show: Episode 5 Best and Worst

The surprises started early when the designers are told they will need to sketch a dress from memory. The way everything is set up, everyone assumes that the dress they will be designing is one of Issac Mizrahi’s creations. Wrong! As soon as Kelly Rowland leaves the room, they learn that her dress is the one they need to recreate with pencil and paper. Sheer panic ensues for some, while others like Haven felt confident about having a competitive advantage – basically that she was actually paying attention.

Daniella wins the challenge – it was pretty easy to see why, especially with half the designers so completely off the mark.

But then it’s time for the designers to get started on the main challenge. And my lord…I had no idea just how many wild complainers we had on this show! Inappropriately over the top quote of the evening goes to James-Paul -

“I am going to die. It’s like asking Jesus Christ to like, work with Satan.”

Right, James-Paul. A curvaceous woman (seriously, these women were not fat at all – and his model in particular is totally lovely!) equals Satan. Someone thinks a little too highly of himself, I see! It was so disappointing to hear that from him, especially since I have really enjoyed his designs up until this point…but come on, even though she’s not the ideal figure, that kind of analogy is so out of line and offensive.

Angel and Reco (surprisingly!) take it all in stride, but the designers have only begun to start their complaining. Whine, whine, whine…get over yourself, kids – think about the kind of impression you are making on potential customers in the future. Seriously…

Daniella and Reco battle it out for top spot – I felt Reco’s design looked far more sophisticated, but can understand Daniella’s decisions too. In the end, Daniella wins and it’s clear her already inflated ego is now ten times bigger than it was before. Sigh.

Anyway, Keith, Merlin and Angel are all left in the bottom three. I actually thought Merlin’s design wasn’t too bad and preferred it over other weak dresses like Anna’s blue striped creation or Haven’s pink and black minidress. But both Keith and Angel really were disappointments this week…ultimately, Keith is sent home.

So now my head is completely turned around about who I’m rooting for. James-Paul is over for me, Reco was pretty decent this week and Daniella – even though she’s really succeeding on the show – seems like such a pain in the butt! Maybe next week one of the more obnoxious designers will be given their walking papers…
