Of course the paparazzi are all over the place during Fashion Week. They want to catch the posh and the fashionable, as well as the trashy and the not so fashionable celebrities. Sometimes, the star sightings are as much fun as the actual coveted invite to the runway show! The celebrities that were at the Badgley Mischka show today, September 14, 2009, were top notch and as amazing as the designs that graced the runway. Take a peek at a few of these stars that sat in the audience….
I adore Rachel Bilson. I also adore her make-up. Listen up make-up …read more

The Fashion Show: Episode 10 Best and Worst

We have already discussed Johnny’s bad design decisions in this week’s episode of The Fashion Show, which meant this week deciding who to send home was and not necessarily based which evening gown was truly heinous. I was surprised and delighted to see what Daniella created. The flow-y grey dress drapes so nicely…and the embellishment across the back is just interesting enough to stand out, without trying so hard that it rules the classic shape.
Then there was Reco’s candy colored dress. I honestly can’t stand this one bit – dropped waists are so unflattering if you are not shaped like …read more

I thought I’d switch it up this week in our recap of the best and worst to come out of The Fashion Show by starting with the disasters and working our way to the top.
Merlin didn’t make the grade with his strange sweatsuit and yellow coat. I have to admit, I actually really like the yellow coat a lot – but the rest of it is just too weird and unflattering for him to have stayed in the competition any longer.
How Johnny escaped being in the bottom two, I do not know. Even though the idea of sweats on the …read more
The Fashion Show: Airs TONIGHT!

It’s getting down to the wire and there are only six designers left in the competition on The Fashion Show! This week’s episode airs TONIGHT – at 10/9 central instead of the usual Thursday time.
The pressure is on when the designers get a gift from Issac: a silk robe that will be what they have for inspiration in the Harper’s Bazaar Mini Challenge. The task? Design a complete loungewear set. I’ll bet more than a couple people get a bit frazzled!
After the mini challenge, the designers visit a psychic to help determine what their fate in the competition will be…who …read more

There were lots of emotions in this week’s episode of The Fashion Show. Sadly, Haven – one of my favorites – was sent home and someone other Daniella won both challenges (hurray for that…!).
As for the winning design from Johnny…I must say, I was disappointed to see a basic black dress be picked once again. There were other designs that seemed far better to me, such as Anna’s black and white shift dress which came down the runway paired with a cute cropped pink jacket. A little bit flapper-esque, it just seemed so polished and like something I can imagine …read more

In this week’s episode of The Fashion Show, Merlin surprised everyone by whipping out a chic design that made up for some of the disasters he’s been sending down the runway in recent weeks. The challenge was to design an outfit for a 20 something girl based on her high school clique. Merlin got the Mean Girl – a pretty easy one if you ask me, but he of course still complained about it (well, mostly about the movie “Mean Girls”).
It’s very cute, though I don’t think the little bit of bare midriff is really necessary..other than that, I agree …read more

Episode 6 of The Fashion Show took the designers back to high school. Those annoying cliques and lunch table territories? Yeah…being sixteen and annoyed with life is all coming back to you, isn’t it.
The Harper’s Bazaar Mini Challenge is about designing t-shirts for student body presidential candidate, Julianna inspired by one of the following high school cliques.
Drama Club (Reco)
Skater (Haven)
Jocks (Johnny)
Tree-Hugger (Daniella)
Mean Girls (Merlin)
Preppy Crew (James-Paul)
Goths (Anna)
Nerds (Lidia)
B-Girls (Angel)
Complicated? Well, they are t-shirts – so it shouldn’t be that hard to do…but then again, they only had an hour to do it and the final designs weren’t all that spectacular. …read more

This week on The Fashion Show Daniella won with a stylish black coat and dress duo just begging for some chic accessories. While this wasn’t my top choice, it is a beautiful garment…my bias probably stems from Daniella being one of the biggest whiners I’ve ever seen!
I didn’t have a clear favorite this week, but I did enjoy Reco’s smart looking red and grey outfit – the tailoring was sexy but not trashy (we’ll get to an example of that later…) and the model just looked so happy wearing it.
I also thought Lydia’s dress was quite pretty – the neckline …read more
The Fashion Show: Episode 5

Remember how I mentioned that Episode 5 of The Fashion Show would be all about the natural curves and challenges most women deal with? Well, this week we saw some seriously true colors from the designers about their feelings (and ultimately aptitude!) to design for a woman who weighs more than 110lbs.
The surprises started early when the designers are told they will need to sketch a dress from memory. The way everything is set up, everyone assumes that the dress they will be designing is one of Issac Mizrahi’s creations. Wrong! As soon as Kelly Rowland leaves the room, they …read more
