Kenzo Friends & Family Sale!

Kenzo sent me a sample of their new Kenzoki: Marshmallow Mask to try for review. Here are a few points about me that you might not be aware of 1) I love Kenzo and 2) I will try anything with the word “Marshmallow” in the name.

Kenzoki: Marshmallow Maskis part of Kenzo’s Sensual Rice line (I tried the Barefeet Fantasy Food Creamfrom the same line). The mask is designed for use by people with dry or normal skin. It is made with ingredients like cameline seed, cotton butter, shea butter, glycerin, bran water, cocao seed butter, and rice plant water. These ingredients were chosen for their hydrating and soothing properties.

Cameline seed oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and rice plant water has been shown to reinforce “the anti-radical activity of anti-oxidizing agents.” Simply put, this mask helps to slow the aging process. Use it and your skin could appear younger-looking.

I am typing this with the mask on my face for the third time. It feels very cool when you put it on. It smells great – they call the fragrance Rice Steam – it smells sort of like Love’s Baby Soft to me. (A favorite from my youth). It feels creamy when you apply it and then it sort of melts into your face.  You leave it on for 10 minutes and then you either rinse it or wipe it off. I used a wet facial cloth and if left my face feeling soft and hydrated. I have occasional breakouts, but using the mask does not break me out. Kenzoki: Marshmallow Mask

…or rose of Castille; a hybrid rose species, first brought to Europe in the 13th century. Its pink petals are used to create essential oils and absolutes for perfumery. They have been prized for their fine fragrance for centuries.

I’ve always loved roses. When I was about 11, my friend, Tanya, and I tried to make our own rose perfume by boiling rose petals. It didn’t work out quite the way we’d hoped, but other than the AVON Small World Fragrances that my mom used to freak out about (”What are they thinking giving these strong perfumes to kids?!), the scent of roses is one of my earliest perfume memories.

FlowerByKenzo Essentielle also carries notes of Jasmine, Vanilla, Musk, Incense, Black Pepper, and Pink Berries.

It’s a fairly straight-forward floral. Very pretty. Very feminine. It’s not as unique as Kenzo’s Unidentified Fragrance Object, nor as compelling as my favorite KenzoAmour Le Parfum, but I liked it.

The bottle is just as pretty as I hoped it would be. Long, thin, graceful – just like a flower stem.

FlowerByKenzo Essentielle Eau de Parfum

The bottle is made of a metal alloy called Zamac. It’s hard to describe, sort of swirling, rotating, and mysterious. It’s currently on exhibit in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The fragrance is a break from the tradtional way of building a 3-level pyramid of notes. Instead of a top, middle, and base note structure, it’s all built around a heart note of Marble Accord. The 4 additional notes are Orange Blossom, Bulgarian Rose, Frankincense, and Vanilla.

I got a sample of the fragrance to try. I think it has a peppery aspect to it and it reminded me a lot of The Beat For Men. Not that it’s a masculine scent, it’s not manly at all. It’s very female, womanly. It has this deep earthiness to it that I think is very sexy.

Unidentified Fragrance Object is currently available, but it’s a limited edition product, with only 1000 units available. You can find it at Bergdork Goodman and KenzoUSA.com.

Kenzo’s Unidentified Fragrance Object

Kenzo Cleaning Ice Jelly ($28) is a self-cooling cleanser with a jelly like consistency. It turns into a water-like cleanser when it touches your skin. Kenzo Cleansing Ice Jelly

KenzoJungle Eau de Parfum

I love the elephant, the jungle motif. The flat wavy look of the bottle reminds me of the Kenzo Eaux de Fleurs bottle, with the sort of ripple-effect that gives the bottle a feel of motion.

I think that this bottle would make a wonderful addition to my arrangement, plus the fragrance, smells pretty fantastic, as well. It’s a combination of spicy Oriental notes, including Licorice, which is a personal favorite of mine.

Fragrance notes: Mandarin, Cardamom, Cumin, Clove, Licorice, Mango, Heliotrope, Ylang-Ylang, Patchouli, Vanilla, Amber, and Cashmeran.

Tomorrow I will have a review of Kenzo’s new Indigo scents for men and women.

Pretty Bottle, Spicy Scent

Kenzo uses special Rice Plant Water, from the Chinese province of Zhejiang, as a reinforcer to the product’s anti-oxidant ingredients. Cupuacu butter, an herbal butter from the Amazon forest, contains fatty acids that maintain the skin’s lipidic layer. Shea Butter, from the fruit of the Butyrospermum Parkii tree, repairs, soothes, calms, and protects the skin.

It has a thick consistency and a great scent – Kenzo calls it a Rice Steam scent. I think I smell a floral note. I used Kenzoki Barefeet Fantasy on my toes, heels, ankles, and elbows. It gives the skin a nice sheen, which really helped my dry heels to look better in sandals.

I may actually run to DSW sometime this weekend, put a pair on and walk up and down the aisle in them for a few minutes.  Then, after pining for them for a few more minutes I will put them back in the box very slowly and walk towards the shoes I know I can afford. The shoes I can afford, though, are in another store and are made of rubber.
