Would You Wear a Short Wedding Dress?

A friend of mine is considering wearing a short dress for her wedding. The one that she has selected is from the Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection.

This short wedding dress (style PL217) features a fantastic feathered skirt that makes it really special. It’s very unique, though not a traditional wedding gown at all.

What do you think about short wedding dresses in general and this dress in particular? Would you wear a short dress for your wedding? Is it more practical? Leave your comments here and let us know.

We don’t normally feature that many short evening dresses here, but this velvet dress from Diane von Furstenberg (one of my favorite designers) is worth a look.

The simple silhouette is all dress up in velvet and sequin details. The square neckline and pleated bell skirt are flattering to most body types.

If you are looking for a hot party dress this holiday season and aren’t going all out for an evening gown, this black velvet dress is a fantastic choice.

Badgley Mischka Velvet-Top Dress

This adorable dress from the Badgley Mischka Platinum Label features a velvet top and full silk organza skirt. It’s a very flirty choice with its sweetheart neckline and beaded empire waist.

Though it’s not full-length, you could definitely wear this velvet-top dress to a formal occasion. You can get it right now at Neiman Marcus for $895.

Add a pair of embellished high heel sandals or black satin slingbacks and you will look fantastic.

Eva Longoria wrapped herself like a silver gift for her husband Tony Parker. At the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, Eva showed that formal gowns don’t have to be floor-length. Her short strapless fringed dress was by Marchesa.

The beautiful actresses of Desperate Housewives, Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria Parker, Felicity Huffman and Nicollette Sheridan presented the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award during the 60th Emmy Awards. The award went to Zeljko Ivanek of Damages.

I love the Platinum collection from Priscilla of Boston. If you haven’t checked out this video from the Spring 2009 runway show, be sure to watch it.

Though the assortment of dresses is quite diverse, I adored the selection of short wedding gowns right around the two minute mark of the video. Are you considering a wearing a short bridal gown?
