Each special pair of sunglasses in the Stone project is handcrafted with the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship.  A metal strip inside the acetate temples gives the lenses special shock-resistant qualities.  The beautiful artistic creation on each temple is created with 120 colorful Swarovski crystals that are hand-selected and carefully placed one-by-one onto the castone, which is invisibly bonded to the temple.  Are you impressed yet??

now you see ‘em and now you don’t.  these little buggers are elusive.  hanging around for a little bit, but never quite long enough for you to get sick of them.  it does break our heart that they have to leave.  but then again, they say absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.  wait, that’s not it … but you get the point.

This one sounds the best to me – Jackie O’Lantern. It’s a blend of Roasted Hazelnut, Vanilla, and Pumpkin. You can’t get much more Fall-like than that. Also available are….

Halloween-themed Fragrance from Smell Bent

Twelfth Night, the first play in the festival, ran from June 10th to July 12th and was paired with Thakoon’s “Viola” line, which was named for the character in the play.  As a tribute to the number twelve, there were only twelve pairs produced of each of three color combinations of the Viola line.  Talk about limited edition…this is as exclusive as it gets!

The second play this year is The Bacchae, which is paired with another limited edition sunglasses release.  The play opened on August 11th and is running until September 6th.  Theirry Lasry designed a line of chunky and colorful plastic aviators that were inspired by the strong and daring character Agave.  The color combinations and thickness of the frames create a fun and hip look that would be so great to wear to watch the play!  Again, only twelve pairs in each color combination will be produced in the “Agavy” line, so you better get yours quick.

Lasry wanted to include specific elements from “Shakespeare in the Park” into his purposeful selections for three three color options of Blue, Green, and Vintage:  “Blue, reminiscent of the summer blue sky where Shakespeare in the Park is taking place; green for the green of Central Park, and the third edition [Vintage]  is using a very old vintage acetate from the 80’s reminiscent of the mythological aspect of the play.”

Paul Smith/Oakley Frogskins in Pink Camouflage $325

I am a huge fan of the retro styles, bright colors, and patterned frames that they are using in their design but I’m not so sure that the pricetag of $325 per pair.  Yes, there are two big name designers involved in this collaboration, but these are still just rubber sunglasses.  Limited edition Frogskins in standard colors, like black rubber with colored mirrored lenses, are usually available for around $100, which I think is a very reasonable price.
