Moisturizers or Lotions, however you wall it, is my trusted Summer Beauty Tool. During winter season we apply moisturizers to our skin to keep it smooth and prevent it from drying. During Summer, we moisturize for the same reason, PLUS the fact that it’s also shorts, mini-skirts, strapless dress, and swimwear season. It is during Summer when our skin gets more exposure. From our face, all the way to our toes. At least if we get dry feet during the winter season we can hide them through boots. Dry legs? No problem, just wear tights underneath a dress or skirt or you could just as easily wear Jeans or Pants.

So my tip for this Summer is to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize. My favorite lotion brands are Vaseline, St. Ives, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Yes To Carrots, and Gloves In A Bottle. How about you?

I was browsing through Victoria’s Secret the other day and noticed the Victoria’s Secret Pink skincare and bath product line. There’s an assortment of products ranging from body washes, sugar scrubs, shave cream, hand cream and even a little bottle of body mist spray.

This is Victoria’s Secret Pink Energizing Body Lotion, perfect to use in the mornings after you’ve had your shower. It will definitely wake you up!  Made with citrus and organic mint to stimulate and invigorate your skin. It also has a little boost of caffeine from organic coffee beans. It’s a non-greasy lotion with subtle skin brighteners to restore your skin’s natural glow. Sounds great doesn’t it? Get  the 11.8 oz size for $15 each or 2/$20 at VS stores and online.

Victoria’s Secret Energizing Body Lotion

One of my favourites are the Sephora Brand Body Butters. They’re available in all sort of yummy flavors… er, scents! Take your pick from Apple Pomegranate, Peach Blossom, Guava Passion and many more concoctions. My personal favourite, Coconut Creme it really does smell like coconuts but it’s lightly scented not obnoxious.  Sephora Brand Body Butters are thick moisturizers with shea butter and beeswax.  You can use the Body Butters all over or just on certain parts where you need extra TLC such as your elbows, knees or the heels of your feet.  They’re priced nicely at $16 a pop, at that price you can try a couple at a time or stock up on your favourite.

Sephora Brand Body Butters

Johnson’s the company that brought the world No More Tears 50 years ago has expanded their line to include the same great quality for adults.  With special formulas and a more sophisticated range of fragrance notes, there’s something out there for everyone.

I was lucky to receive a huge (HUGE!) box of Johnson’s Body Care products that my family is slowly working our way through – these are some big containers. The first two we tried are the Melt Away Stress line and the 24 Hour line. I’ll share my opinion of the other lines when I get to them.

I love anything lavender scented, so the Melt Away Stress line with lavender and chamomile is perfect for me. I use both the body wash and the moisturizing lotion. It’s a great way to end the day – a warm shower, then I’m ready for my book and pjs. Both the wash (20.3 fl oz) and the lotion (11 fl oz) are economically priced for about $5.49 each.

Fragrance notes: lavender, moonflower, chamomile, and warm milk

My daughter, Bailey, has very sensitive skin.  She’s been using the 24 Hour line with great results. She says, “I’ve noticed that my skin is smoother and I haven’t been having trouble with bumps after I shave my legs.”  Bay likes the way the 24 Hour line leaves her skin with a nice sheen - that’s probably the mica in the formula.  In addition to the mica, shea butter and vitamin E work together to moisturize your skin for 24 hours with no greasy feel. Johnson’s Body Care – Melt Away Stress and 24 Hour Moisturization

It’s easy to get caught up in the rush and busy of preparing for the holidays. Don’t forget to take a few moments for yourself. It’s important to catch your breath, recharge, and pamper yourself – if only for a short time – in order to truly be able to enjoy everything that the holidays have to offer.

I’ve just been going over my to-do list and unfortunately, due to an unforeseen family emergency, I’m way off track. Our sweet guinea pig, Whoobie, died last night and I woke up feeling sad and distracted. It’s going to take some real work to get everything done and get myself back into the holiday spirit.

I’ve decided that come 6pm, no matter where I am on my list, I’m going to stop and take a breather. Either a bath or shower, I’m going to wash the stress of the day out of my hair and off my mind. I’m going to lather up with something wonderful-smelling, moisturize with something fragrantly rich, and powder myself with my favorite …..uh baby powder. Seriously, I use Johnson’s Baby Powder everyday. It smells nice and makes my skin feel extra-soft.  A real money-saver, too.

And since I admitted to the Johnsons, I might as well let you know that I like to use Gerber’s Laveder scented baby wash and lotion, too. They are soap-free and gentle on your skin and very inexpensive. Their scent stays with you all day, much longer than many more expensive body washes and lotions.

Please remember to make time for yourself, as well. I know that there’s a lot to fit in the days ahead, but you deserve some time to yourself. Happy holidays!
