Recently, I wrote about this beautiful red mulberry wine soap and began looking out for other red soaps. Earlier this week, I found a terrific option from LUSH. Their Unlucky for Dirt soap is a red soap made with their new palm-free soap base.
Created from rose, honey and oregano, this soap has a fantastic scent and powerful cleansing properties. It will gently yet effectively cleanse your skin and leave it soft and nourished from the essential oils.
The LUSH Unlucky for Dirt Soap is priced at $6.95 for a 3.5 oz bar. I ordered a few of them to use in …read more

In the warm Summer months, I tend to reach for fresh, light, citrus fragrances. I am looking for something that will refresh me, something that will help me to feel that I’m escaping the heat. It’s mind over matter. With the cooler Fall weather, I like to use a scent that has some depth, a richer mix of notes. I want a scent with some warmth, some woody notes.
Lush Karma Fragrance straddles both the Summer and Fall scents. It has those fresh citrus notes with both Orange oil, Elemi, and Lemon Grass, but it deepens it with Lavender, Pine, and Patchouli. …read more

Give a Fig

Lush homemade soaps may look like huge chunks of birthday cake or luminescent space rocks, but they are also super-exfoliating, hydrating, fragrant and – yes, I’ll say it – far more fun to display in your soap dish than your average bar of soap.
A few years ago, I was won over by their earthy Figs and Leaves Soap , with its distinct trace of orange and flowers, but have since smartened up and now covet close to every variety of soap.
Lush’s soap line is chock-full of amazing, therapeutic ingredients such as black pepper, fennel, fig seeds and Kaffir lime …read more

Make your own Bath Bombs!

People go GAGA over Lush’s bath bombs. They are huge and they cost quite a bit. You can make your own that are just as luxurious for much less. You can customize the recipe, too: add oatmeal for skin soothing, herbs, tea, rose petals, orange zest, the sky is the limit when it comes to fixing up these babies. If you want to get fancy you can divide the batch in half and make each a complimentary color. The hardest part about making bath bombs is really packing them into the molds well. Professional Bath and Body companies have special …read more
Lush – Naked!

Lush, a love-it-or-hate-it cosmetics/toiletries company with a small but growing presence here in the United States, recently staged a “cheeky” campaign to call attention to something we might not often consider – how the packaging for our cosmetics and other beauty products affects the environment. Their stance, obviously, is the first R – reduce. To this end, they sell “Naked” products, without any packaging.
I’m sure something like this would quickly get shut down in the U.S. (damn our zoning!) but it’s good to see a company doing something about its business practices to help the environment. For …read more
