I love denim, don’t get me wrong. I’m wearing jeans right now, but I don’t think I’ve worn a denim vest since 1991. Yikes! Thinking about wearing the two together gives me the creeps. Anyway.  If you love the matchy-matchy look of denim,  then consider putting it together in a dress.

Try an almost trendy dress.  It can work. If you pick the right look. This is not the time to bust out the Britney Spears dress from the 2001 American Music Awards. Wear them with some strappy peep toe heels while at a party or fancy event. To make it more causual put on some sparkly flip-flops or flats to go with the dress. You’ll be a hit. You’ll also be a hit with this Milly Cabana Strapless Bandeau Dress from Intermix for $360. The dress is perfectly girly with pink and purple flowers all over the place. It gathers at the bust and has a full skirt. It is 100$ cotton and is super breezy.

Milly Cabana Strapless Bandeau Dress

The print is a psychadelic combination of mice and black that would look great with some classic black pumps and a little pink clutch (as pictured). It is 100% silk. The dress is 50% off ($1,200) at theoutnet.com and reminds me of the  classic children’s book If You Gave a Mouse Cookie.  

What inititally drew me to the dress, though, was the cut. The square low cut shape is very original and fun. If you aren’t too keen on the mouse print, but like the cut, you can always check out the original Crêpe Dress that is $585. On a second thought, don’t think about that one, it’s already sold out…

If You Give a Mouse A Crêpe…

And I’ve found it! Well, at least I’ve found it for this Spring. This Catherine Malandrino Embroidered Cotton Dress is a-m-a-z-i-n-g.  It’s a blush pink that goes with every Spring ensemble. There are spritzes of multicolored embroidery throughout.  The black straps make just enough of a contrast that the dress doesn’t look “too” girly.

The Empire waist is perfect for an Apple body shape that is a bit top heavy so it draws attention away from your top and to the middle (where you aren’t carrying as much).  Of course it’s always good for the lucky girls who have nothing to hide as well.

The dress is also lined and has a zip on the side.  It is $495.

Catherine Malandrino Embroidered Dress

It is blush, blue and white with two tiers to add to the ruffled band and dot and floral embellishments that adorn the first tier. While this is clearly an Easter looking dress, I say wear it to any Spring party, because it is just too adorable to pass up. It is $240 from Bluefly.com.

Betsey Johnson Blush Dotted Strapless Dress

When I was young I loved to color, I would color in coloring books, I would color on plain paper, I would color on walls…I would color on anything. This Spring 2009 collection reminds me of my days of coloring because I loved coloring in the lines and in order. Even if I was coloring somewhere where I wasn’t supposed to, I was always coloring symmetrically.

Charmeuse Color Blocked Dress This color block dress has symmetrical beauty. It is washed charmeuse with a round neckline and tank straps. It is $1,650.

Cutout Sweetheart Dress Throughout the week it seems that every designer has that one white dress. This is Nariciso Rodriguez’s white dress. This one has a sweetheart neckline and a cap sleeve with back cut out detail. $1,990.

One Shoulder Color Block Dress One shoulder cotton and silk blend with three different colors in a color block fashion in a slender silhouette. This dress is $1,560.

Tiered Asymmetric Dress This deep red dress, described as a lipstick on the website has cap sleeves a sweetheart neckline and an empire waist.

Crisscross Bandage Dress Unlike the other dresses I’ve shown you in this collection, this dress combines all the colors into one fabric. This multi-colored tweed has wide tank straps, crisscross bustier with silk lining and triangular cut-out detail. It has a band across back with four hook-and-eye closures; rear cut-out. underneath. It costs $1,895.

Nariciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 Preview

Could she dress up in Oscar de la Renta like she did in Denver when her husband clinched the Democratic nomination for President? Some speculate that a classic and elegant designer like Oscar De La Renta could be a good fit for this historic day.

Or, could she go for a Ralph Lauren dress like this beauty she wore while fist bumping her husband straight to the Presidency in early June?

Who knows? It could be something similar to the Narciso Rodriguez right off the runway dress she wore on victory day in Chicago.

Maria Pinto, Michelle’s dress maker from Chicago has also been thrown in the mix with all the other famous designers as well. I’m sure all these designers will get a crack at designing something for her at some point during the next four years.

The speculation will be over on January 20, 2009. Hooray!

First Lady Designer Fashion

Hilton recently paraded her pimped out coche to the media in a snazzy pink dress. The photos have been seen all over the place, including In Touch & Life and Style.

Paris looks awesome in this Pink Blossom dress from Stop Staring! for $146. They are currently pre-ordering the dress and it will ship February 27, 2009. The dress is rose pink tropical fabric with a cap sleeves and bottom accent on the dress both cut on bias. The thing I absolutely adore about Stop Staring! is that their sizes aren’t “designer” sizes. They go up to a 46 inch bust 38 inch waist and a 48 inch hip.

Paris, however, is not the only celeb seen in Stop Staring! Rhianna wore a Stop Staring! piece during a summer 2008 performance and Jessica “Sugar” Kiper was given one of their dresses for the show’s finale. Ashley Greene of the ever so popular Twilight wore the Classic Ashley Dress in Dove Grey ($145) at the movie premiere a few months back. They are all over the place.
