Final Goodies from Milan Fashion Week

The Spring & Summer 2010 runway shows have wrapped up in Milan, but I just couldn’t resist choosing a few more great accessory picks from fashion week!
If you need a little more luck in your life, you might consider Frankie Morello’s generously-sized horse-shoe belt:

Of course, carrying that cute little purse might do the trick too…  Or maybe it’s the shoes that are lucky?
Anteprima also created some large versions of their teensy little glittering clutch purses:

They showed several colors, but I love this soft, minty green in particular.
Lublu Plastinina sent their models down the runway sporting some seriously chunky necklaces:

Sparkly Fun at Milan Fashion Week

Spring and Summer 2010 are so bright that they’re sparkling – at least on the runways of Milan Fashion Week!
Some designers are stepping away from the bright colors and tribal themes into something a little more glittery and feminine.
Clear rhinestones and crystals have shown up on several runways, including Anteprima:

Their models carried delicate clutch purses, encrusted with tiny crystals, and finished off with faceted crystal clasps.
Mila Schon joined the embellished tights crowd with her glittering hosiery:

And what’s better than glittery tights?  Finishing your outfit off with sparkling silver platform heels, of course.
There are some crafty fashionistas who are making their …read more

The Brights Are Back in Milan

The Spring & Summer 2010 collections during Milan Fashion Week have been all about the contrast this week.
Some designers are showing very restrained collections with neutral palettes…
And some have not!
The bright colors have ranged from more traditional summer colors to some very bright neons – which look even brighter when you pair them with more neon and black.
As you can see from the Dsquared2 finale, neon is going to be a presence for next spring:

Didn’t we do that in the eighties already?  Oh well, runway looks are always more extreme than the real-life versions…
Laura Biagiotti went for bold, bright and …read more

Chunky Jewelry With An Edge from Milan

The big, bold and chunky jewelry trend for Spring & Summer 2010 is continuing during Milan Fashion Week.
Everything from rubber and leather to more delicate beads and metals are showing up on the runways.   Designers are using tribal accents as well as more traditional jewelry motifs.
Fisico created big, chunky necklaces from carved wood for the runway:

Dsquared2 sent their models down the runway sporting some interesting jewelry:

I’m not sure if those flowers are made from leather or rubber, but the contrast between the girly flowers and the industrial materials make for quite an interesting necklace.
I might suggest leaving the trucker …read more

Oversize Totes and Girly Colors In Milan

The Spring and Summer 2010 collections are still parading down the runway for Milan Fashion Week – and we’ve seen a little bit of everything for the next season!
I’ve pulled a few of my favorite handbag & tote picks from some recent shows – I love Moschino’s summery prints for this oversize tote:

And I’ve got to say – those bloomers are pretty cute too… although I don’t think I would wear them outside my house
Bottega Veneta also sent soft, unstructured totes down their runway:

That cheerful yellow is going to be great for summer – and the braided handle …read more

A Study In Contrasts for Milan Fashion Week

Contrasts seem to be the name of the game for the Spring & Summer 2010 collections for Milan Fashion Week.
With everything from bright and cheerful colors to restrained neutrals, ballet flats and towering stilettos, oversize totes and delicate clutches – there’s a little something for everyone.
Gianfranco Ferre has gone for a steampunk aesthetic, with lots of leather straps, intricate buckles and detailed brass heels:

Blumarine on the other hand seems to be going for the retro-hippy look with bright, cheerful colors, relaxed shapes and lots of tie dye prints:

I love those tangerine orange flats though…
The spring & summer collection from Dolce …read more

Milan Fashion Week: Prada S/S 10

New York Fashion week is a distant memory, London Fashion Week is son to be in the past and we said adiós to the 50th anniversary to the Cibeles Madrid fashion week a few days ago. That doesn’t mean, though, that the Spring / Summer 2010 shows have ended! Now, we’re off to Milan! How I wish I could jump on plane like all the celebs and my favorite tweeter, Joe Zee, to all the shows (Joe Zee is by far the best person to follow on twitter by the way…he’s hilarious, and tweets from shows and shoots…it’s truly a …read more

Heavy Duty Jewelry from Milan Fashion Week

Big and chunky jewelry seems to be the trend for Spring & Summer 2010 – at least according to the designers at Milan Fashion Week!
Jewelry is usually exaggerated for the runway, it’s awfully hard to see a delicate little chain on a model’s neck from across a big runway – but these necklaces are definitely on the generous end…
Blugirl layered multiple necklaces in different shades, shapes and sizes:

I think this is going to be a great summery look – keeping the necklaces in the same color will keep them from overwhelming the rest of your outfit.
Luciano Soprani adorned their models …read more

Bold Bags from Milan Fashion Week

Fashion Week has moved on to Milan for the Spring & Summer 2010 collections!
There’s been an interesting mix of clothing and accessories so far.  Some designers are going with the bright colors, bold femininity and tribal accents we’ve seen elsewhere.  Some designers have taken a very different approach, with their entire spring and summer collections done in shades of beige, brown and black.
I’ve pulled a few of my early handbag favorites – and yes, they’re all from the bold and bright camp
Enrico Coveri mixed shades of green and some lovely prints for his distinctive accessories and handbags.

He also …read more

Would You Go On A Wait List For Lipstick?

Dolce & Gabbana debuted their makeup collection at Milan Fashion Week, but could anyone have imagined the chaos that would ensue once U.S. beauty lovers received word that the line would soon be available on North American shores? The deep red classic creme Dahlia lipstick premiered on the runway at Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2010 and now, a week away from the official Saks Fifth Avenue on-counter date of April 24…
There is a wait list. Wow, people really love their red lipstick!
