Theme Fragrance just released two new scents – Mantra and Song. I had the opportunity to try both of these, plus their best-selling Sarong scent, too.
Theme Fragrances are meant to flatter the individual’s own style. You can layer them to create something unique or wear them on their own. They come in a solid perfume or a roll-on oil, both are the perfect size to slip into your purse, pocket, or makeup bag.
Mantra, a “sensuous honeyed musk,” also carries notes of spring florals. It has a powdery scent and it’s now my new favorite. This is a soft, romantic musk …read more

I just returned from a 5-day visit with my sister’s family. I had a wonderful time and while there, my sister and I talked beauty stuff, of course. She let me get into her closet to try all the fragrances that she has that I hadn’t had the chance to smell before. I took her a new fragrance that I wasn’t sure that she would like, she told me that she did not think that she liked oriental scents, but guess what? She does.
I’ve noticed that as I’ve aged and gone through life experiences like pregnancy, my taste in fragrance …read more
Santa Wants the Kids To Smell Good

My kids are growing up. This year, Santa skipped the toys and brought them gifts of fragrance.
First, because it’s a family tradition, he brought my girls a gift of Love’s Baby Soft. A “soft, powdery floral, with wood and animal scents,” is the only description I was able to find online. Animal scents? Does that mean musk? I can smell musk in there.
Love’s Baby Soft was my first favorite scent. I remember wearing it in Junior and then Senior High school, before I moved on to more grown-up scents like Chantilly, Anais Anais, and Gloria Vanderbilt. We used to do this …read more

I was reading my latest copy of Women’s Health Magazine and there was an interesting article about scent and it’s effect on mood or feelings. I’ve always felt that scent had a way of elevating a mood, the way you spritz something lovely on, before heading out into the world each day. It’s like a magic elixir that you wear on your skin. The way Women’s Health explains it, your choice of scent can help you get through challenging life events.
KenzoAmour Parfum
For example, if you are feeling depressed, then chose something woody. Something that features notes of sandalwood, amber, cedar, and patchouli. Woody …read more

Great white musk recommendations from The Scented Salamander!

Marie-Helene just posted a great rundown on a new trend she sniffed out on the streets of Paris – White Musk perfumes! Musks aren’t easy for everyone to wear, but by combining the more animal notes with clean, white florals, it’s something else entirely. I’m a big fan of the Serge Lutens Clair de Musc that she reviews – iris powder is just a wonderful foil to deeper, spicier notes. Go check it out!
