I have broken down the plethora of scarves that I have been eyeing lately into a few main categories to introduce you to the designs that are fashionable this Fall and to help you pick the style that will best fit with your outfit.  Happy scarf hunting!

Infinity Scarf – This scarf is a long loop that can be worn in a couple ways: hanging down like a necklace that falls below the waist or doubled up as seen in the photo.  This is a trendy and artsy look because the style of the scarf encourages you to loop it in new and interesting ways.

Wide Scarf – This is a casual and cozy look that you can pair with any coat or sweater.  The scarf is wide and thick so wrapping only once around the neck creates bulky warmth.  Get one in your favorite bold color!

Square Scarf – This is a glamorous and dressy scarf style that can be found in thin silky fabrics.  Fold the square into a triangle and then experiment with wrapping to create a layered and ruffled look.

Snood – I called this the must-have accessory for Fall because I just loved it on the Burberry runway.  Similar to the infinity scarf, this is also a loop that can be worn bunched around the neck for a high fashion look.  It looks great with a classy cashmere coat.

Ruffled Scarf – This is a textured scarf with stitching that gives it a bunchy ruffled look without requiring much styling of your own.  This is an easy and fun scarf that can be thrown on quickly to add character to a casual outfit.

How to Pick a Scarf Style This Fall

I first spotted the Timex 80 on high-end fashion online retailer Net-A-Porter’s website and found it quite amusing that this simple little watch was now being sold next to Christian Louboutins.  But I also have to admit that I immediately wanted one!  Now I have been spotting this retro watch at every high end department store.  I love all the bright colors and whimsical feel of this timeless style.

Timex 80 Pink Blue and Lime Tri-Colour Watch $82.50

The popularity of the Timex 80 has made some of the best colors slightly difficult to track down.  This candy-colored style is my absolute favorite, but I couldn’t find it in any American department stores.  It’s so fabulous!

Timex 80 Metal Digital Watch in White $60

This is the classic white stainless steel elastic strap design…definitely a close second.  This is the perfect casual women’s watch.

Timex 80 Jumbo Digital Watch in Red Mars $60

This is the new Jumbo design from the Timex 80 Universe Collection.  This is an oversized update to the original 1980’s version.  It is also available in tons of fun colors like Blue Neptune, Pink Venus, and Green Earth.

Return of the Classic Timex 80 Watch

I just discovered La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau, which means “the cherry on the hat” in French and is a cute little adaptation to “la cerise sur le gateau” or “the cherry on the cake.”  How clever for the designer also named Cerise!  Cerise Bentz created La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau in 2004 as a small workshop in Paris that designs and creates gorgeous handmade hats for men and women.  The designs are retro-inspired and infuse modern elements into traditional hat styles that have a place in fashion history.

We are lucky to have access to La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau’s unique and luxurious designs through the small collection that is now available on Net-A-Porter online.

La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau Rabbit Hair Fedora in Gray $260

This is the ultimate classy and versatile fedora with a timeless style that can be dressed up or dressed down with various outfits.  I absolutely love the soft gray paired with the lavendar bow for the perfect feminine touch to this menswear-inspired piece.  Classic and classy!!

La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau Rabbit Hair Fedora in Plum $260

Luxury Fedoras Handmade in Paris

TheOutnet.com is the official sale website of online designer store Net-A-Porter.  It’s a great place to find high quality designer pieces at lower prices and they feature some fabulous Flash Sales.  Discount websites are my favorite place to find designer accessories because you don’t need to worry about limited sizes being available and you know you are getting the exact same product that was available only months ago at full price.

Linda Farrow Luxe Gold Plated Sunglasses $315 (orig. $525)

Linda Farrow is one of the hottest designers of luxury sunglasses right now, but consequently also one of the most expensive so it’s great to find them on sale.  These are gorgeous half-frame tortoiseshell and 24 karat gold sunglasses that would be great for men or women.

Stella McCartney Striped Effect Sunglasses $153 (reg. $255)

Award-winning fashion designer Stella McCartney is known for her animal rights activism, so  I think it’s appropriate that she has these acetate oversized sunglasses with a striping pattern that resembles an animal print or wood inlay.

Chloe Charme Sunglasses $135 (reg. $270)

I must have these!  This unique and girly design has almost a reverse half-frame with purple metal on the lower half of the frame and contrasting silver on the top.  I love the continuity of the purple temples that wrap the purple frame and the pairing with the pinkish purple lenses.

Missoni Rib-Knit Wool-Blend Snood $205

What is a snood? Traditionally, dating back to the 1860’s, a snood was a hairpiece that wrapped around the top of the head and under the hair to the nape of the neck.  This circular wrap contained a netted or cloth sack that held the hair.  The shape of the piece was similar to the nets that are worn in the food service industry for sanitary purposes.  Today the modern snood is a tube-shaped thick piece, oftentimes made of wool, that is worn scrunched up around the neck like a gator or pulled over the head like a hood.

I have seen snoods worn by models on the runway, but this is the first time that I think the style will make it to the general public.  Net-A-Porter currently has a collection of gorgeous wool and cashmere snoods by Burberry and Missoni.  If these two trend-setting fashion houses are designing snood styles for Fall 2009, then I predict that many other designers will soon follow.

Burberry Giant Check Snood $295

I love the snood because of its versatility and style.  It looks fabulous and elegant as a bunched up looped scarf or a loose-hanging hood.  When worn as a hood it provides warmth for the neck, ears and top of the head and protection from rain or snow.  I get really excited about new fashion terminology so the snood is definitely going to my obsession this Fall and Winter!

Snood Is The Must-Have Accessory for Fall

The Thomas Wylde Printed Silk Scarf and the Alexander McQueen Chiffon Skull Print Scarf made a huge impact last season and they’re back again. These have been seen on all the trendy starlets and it’s easy to see why. The playful prints and fab colour combos are what draws your eye. If you’re wearing an otherwise ’serious’ outfit, these scarves would work well to give it that dose of edge.

One can use scarves in a few ways. Loop or tie it around your neck, let it hang loose or if the scarf is your typical square scarf, much line the ones above, tie it around the strap of your handbag for an extra punch of colour. Edgy and Playful Scarves

These Miu Miu Glitter Slingback Sandals are not at all practical or shoes one can wear on a daily basis, but my goodness are they stunning!  I’m sure one can think of many reasons why they should wear these every day!  This is truly the type of shoes Cinderella wouldn’t mind wearing to the ball. Can you imagine the look of shock and awe you’ll get when you present these babies to someone you love?

These glamorous shoes will look wonderful with a little black dress or dressed down with dark jeans and a slinky top for a hot date.  The heels are tall at 5.5 inches but the 1″ platform is forgiving; so in reality these are only about 4.5″ high.  The gold glitter and metallic gold leather trim is contrasted by a black velvet bow, so darling!  These Miu Miu sandals will set you back $570 at Net-A-Porter, but it’s a small price to pay for a pair of shoes that will take any outfit to glamorous heights!

The Stella McCartney Cloud Print Sandals and Cloud Print Wedges are the epitome of casual, carefree days of fun.  She’ll be able to wear these with shorts and flirty dresses.  They’re designed with the signature Sir Peter Blake cloud print canvas fabric, which are adorable but not overtly childish either. The sandals are accented with gold tone straps while the wedges have a a great leg lengthening effect.  The Cloud Print Sandals are $335 and the Cloud Print Wedges are $425.

I just discovered a pair of vintage Carrera sunglasses!  I am loving all of the vintage styles that are being re-released this summer, so I was really excited to find that Retrosun has a pair of vintage Carrera aviator sunglasses available.

Retrosun Vintage Carrera Sunglasses $365

These sunglasses have a vintage aviator style with gold frames and gray lenses.  The gold bridge detail is very distinctive.  It’s great to see the contrast between the candy-colored plastic aviators that are popular now and the polished gold vintage frames.

Carrera began as a high-performance sunglasses manufacturer that was known for designing the best in aviation eyewear.  These sunglasses are a collectors flight tech edition with a Boeing logo along the temple.
