What Scents Do Men Find Sexy?

Glamour has a piece up on men and the scents that they do and don’t find sexy.  You can find it here. I love reading stuff like that – finding some secret insight about the male mind is always pretty intriguing.
I agreed with some of it, either because I’ve already read a lot of things that back the theories up or through my own personal experience.  Some of the ideas, well I don’t agree with them, also through things I’ve read or my own experience.  I believe that, as a whole, men don’t respond as well to some scents, but …read more

Lovely Fragrance and Tote Bag Set

Searching for a good-sized tote, that is also chic and stylish?
I’ve been looking for something that is a little larger than my purse, but not too big. I want it to be very different from my usual black shoulder bag. I am so bored with my usual black shoulder bag. My closet is full of these bags. I am in a rut.
Luckily, I found this lovely Ivory Tote and Cashmere Mist Eau de Parfum set, from Donna Karan Beauty, in my email today:

Cashmere Ivory Rouche Tote Set
Soft and stylish. This Ivory Rouche Tote is a wardrobe must. Perfect for weekend …read more

Caroline Chu Product Review

I received a shipment of products from Caroline Chu this week.
As usual there was a conversation with my daughter, “Mom, this should go in our bathroom – it’s the ‘guest’ bath and it should have the pretty bottles.”  That’s the argument she used and I have to admit that it was a good one, but I still put the bottles in my bathroom.
The bottles are pretty. They have a sleek look and a smoky color. They remind me of the salon products that I used when I was a hairdresser. More important than the bottle – was what was inside …read more

Jude Law the Face of Dior Homme Sport

Jude Law is the new face of Dior Homme Sport in all but the UK and the USA campaigns.
I’m aware that many people view Jude Law as a cad for his affair, a few years back, with his children’s nanny and they may be correct in that assumption, but to look at Law, to hear him speak…… Sheesh, that man is lovely. I think he’s the perfect choice for the face of Dior Homme Sport (or anything else) and I hope that we, in the US, get our chance to see him in this capacity soon. (Yes, I can be a …read more

Interested In A Little Tour?

Hello everybody. My son was sick most of the night and I got very, very little sleep, so the post I had planned for earlier today had to be scrapped.  In it’s place, please enjoy a short tour around b5’s Beauty and Style Channel.
I will get my planned post out tomorrow. I promise.  It’s a how-to and I plan to make how-to posts a regular thing. I like crafts and I like things that smell good, so I’ve decided to combine the two into something fun to share with you readers.  What do you think?  Any interest in an occasional how-to post?
And here begins the …read more

Mama Love Organics

When it comes to love, nobody does it like a mama.   Some of us are lucky enough to still have our mamas close at hand, but everyone can use a little bit more mama love all the same.  From this nurturing, healing place is where Sheryl Karas has created Mama Love Organic perfume oils.  They include both essential oils and flower essences (similar to those used in homeopathy).  The first scent, Troubled Times, was created for the owner herself to gracefully heal a badly broken heart.  Looking at the scent list, there’s plenty that would be helpful in today’s modern, …read more

Perfume/Cologne of the Day: Chanel Bel Respiro

Bel Respiro is one of the 10 fragrances from Chanel’s recent entry into the niche perfumery market, the Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection. The name Bel Respiro, and the inspiration for the scent, comes from a country house outside Paris that Coco Chanel owned in the 1920s. Bel Respiro was created by Chanel’s in-house perfumer, Jacques Polge, and the notes are rumored to include crushed leaves, rosemary, thyme, rose, lilac, hyacinth, green tea, aromatic grasses, myrrh and leather.
The initial notes are crystalline, green, but morphing into something slightly rounder, like an herbal with light floral background.  Definitely I get a …read more

Regina Harris Francincense Myrrh Rose Maroc

If you love mysterious,  oil-based perfumes, this one is worth a try.  It’s very suited to the fall and winter months, and in fact might be too much for the summer.  The bottle is very bohemian – probably the fashionistas out there would not like it. However, it’s nice and rich without being too sweet, and the floral notes make it more sensual rather than just arcane.
the scoop
This is a decadent and resinous perfume oil filled with the scents of rituals both sacred and profane– of imagined opium dens and warrior pirate queens, of gilded mosques and ancient religious ceremonies. …read more
