I agreed with some of it, either because I’ve already read a lot of things that back the theories up or through my own personal experience.  Some of the ideas, well I don’t agree with them, also through things I’ve read or my own experience.  I believe that, as a whole, men don’t respond as well to some scents, but some of these opinions they are basing the story on are very subjective.

Here’s the Glamour magazine short version – men don’t go for dessert scents, powdery scents, or anything on the heavy floral or heavy citrus side.  They do find clean scents, woody florals, spicy florals, light citrus, or vanilla attractive. 

Here’s where I disagree – men do like desert scents when they have a vanilla note, for example my last boyfriend loved my buttercream frosting scented body lotion.  He also loved my lime and basil scented body spray. Both had a strong scent – either sweet or citrus. He also liked my lavendar body powder. I know this because this man was a big sniffer. He’d hug me, breathe me in, and then go, “Mmmm…” Oh, boy. It was very sexy and left me feeling fairly powerful. I sure miss that guy.

The apparent problem with the powder scent was that it reminded one of the Glamour man of his Grandma. The problem with the sweet smell – it reminded him of someone very young. Now, I agree that men like a more complex and sophisticated scent, but just like women, they like the scent to match their mood.  And sometimes, not matter what you read in Glamour magazine, sometimes they just want their lady to smell like cookie.

What Scents Do Men Find Sexy?

I’ve been looking for something that is a little larger than my purse, but not too big. I want it to be very different from my usual black shoulder bag. I am so bored with my usual black shoulder bag. My closet is full of these bags. I am in a rut.

Lovely Fragrance and Tote Bag Set

As usual there was a conversation with my daughter, “Mom, this should go in our bathroom – it’s the ‘guest’ bath and it should have the pretty bottles.”  That’s the argument she used and I have to admit that it was a good one, but I still put the bottles in my bathroom.

The bottles are pretty. They have a sleek look and a smoky color. They remind me of the salon products that I used when I was a hairdresser. More important than the bottle – was what was inside the bottle – lovely fragrant bath and body products. I had the opportunity to try Caroline Chu’s Moisturizing Body Lotion, Shower Gel, and Fragrance Oil.

The body lotion worked well on my elbows, heels – places that need extra care. The shower gel made lots of bubbles (I do like bubbles).

The Fragrance oil is easy to throw into my purse. Portable is a plus – I’m always on the go. I like that that the fragrance oil scent is fresh and floral. The lily and rose give way to a soft and powdery-scented dry down. I’ve been dreaming of Spring lately and this is like Spring in a bottle. It made me feel feminine and ……well pretty. Smelling good, it’s one of the best parts about being a girl, after all.

Another good point is that the products are natural and free from harsh chemicals.

SpaBeautifully tried out a great facial mask for acne-prone skin.  I am 42 and I strongly believe that a person should be immune to pimples when that first gray hair shows up.  Unfortunately, that is not the case. I think I need to try that mask.

The initial notes are crystalline, green, but morphing into something slightly rounder, like an herbal with light floral background.  Definitely I get a bit of coumadin in the middle,  and it slowly settles into a drydown something like soapy leather on me.  It’s restrained, well orchestrated, with nothing left to chance.  Much like the well-tailored designs of Mme.
