Did you notice how, at Fashion Week, a lot of those models appeared to have unmovable buns, no matter how much running around and changing they did? chic bun is a great style for any hair type, any event and any outfit. The only issue is keeping the bun to stay put.
Celebrity hair stylist, Philip Pelusi was behind some of those buns, and created adorable little chignons for Caroline Seikaly’s Mercedes Benz fashion week presentation at Tela Design Studios.
Philip says he got the buns to stay put by spraying a pony tail with holding spray BEFORE twisting it …read more

To say Oscar de la Renta gowns are beautiful would be a gross understatement. They are beyond beautiful! Oscar de la Renta is a fashion genius when it comes to creating gowns. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want to wear one of his stunning creations.
For Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, Oscar de la Renta’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection showed us that he can envision, design and manipulate fabric to create the most heart stopping gowns in all of fashion.

I must say, I adore Carolina Herrera. She’s got the creativity, artistry and talent that can turn an ordinary piece of fabric into something amazing. I browsed through her Spring/Summer 2010 collection for New York Fashion Week and there were so many gorgeous gowns and stunning garments to be had.
Here are a few of my favourites from the show…
I love the way this dress flows and the detailing on the neckline and straps. It’s a red, in your face dress but it’s also simple and quite stunning.
At first I thought the length of this dress was a bit awkward but …read more
Backstage with Aveda at Yigal Azrouel

Aveda did the hair for Yigel Azroul’s Spring 2010 collection at NYFW, and it had an edgy, chaotic look to it that was also punk and a bit sleek.
The top is textured with tousled volume, and the sides are smooth, and slicked back, with a straight-yet-messy knot at the nape of the neck.
It was pretty hot – as were the designs!
Here’s a look at some backstage footage:

Textured Twists at Diego Binetti

Perhaps it’s because I am a beauty blogger, but I discover often at shows I’ll be more interested in the hair and makeup than the clothes! At NYFW this weekend, The Sebastian Pro team, led by Thomas Dunkin did the hair at the Diego Binetti show. The look was very much a modern, textured twist on structured braids — the idea of all this was to reflect the style of the fashions, which were about the theme of individualism and carefree youth.
The resulting look was very romantic, there was an elegance and poise to it that I think – while …read more

The weather Gods sure haven’t shone brightly on New York City the past two days. Unlike some places in the country (ahem, south Texas), NYC can go a few days without the inclement weather. With so many people coming in to town and moving from tent to tent, it sure would be nice to be able to wear your nice heels instead of ratty sneakers that you don’t mind getting dirty to fancy shows wouldn’t it?
Well, if your a celebrity, it doesn’t matter what the weather is like, you have to wear your heels. Because that’s what you do, you …read more
Frederic Fekkai Styles at Rag and Bone

The Rag & Bone presentation at New York Fashion Week was all about structure – tailored frocks, tailcoats – paired with elements of the laid back – long johns, short shorts, olives, grays, blues.
The hair for the presentation was something of a contrast, created in a way that was rough and tousled. Styled by Teddy Charles, lead stylist for Frédéric Fekkai, it was full of texture and volume.
After a few spritzes of Fekkai Tousled Wave Spray, Teddy rolled hair to make it piecey. He then wrapped and teased the hair into messy tendrils with Fekkai Full Blown Volume Lifting …read more

Despite what many may think, the Fashion Week mayhem does not limit itself to the overcrowded tents of Bryant Park – excitement, style, and fashion are brewing all over the place this week.
Keen’s Steakhouse hosted the John Patrick Organic show one that reflected a fun bohemian style both in the designs – and in the hair design.
“I wanted to dig deep below the surface of Bohemian style and create a free-spirited look that’s chic, pretty, and fresh,” says designer John Patrick.
The hair for this show was styled by Odile Gilbert for Aveda. “I call this chic-bohemian look ‘the wave,” …read more
The Perfect Pony: Michael Angel at NYFW

Let’s face it, Fashion Week is not all about clothes. It’s also about hair.
Today at Bryant Park in New York City, Thomas Dunkin and Sebastian Professional stylist design styled the hair at the Michael Angel presentation.
Their goal? Creating the ‘perfect pony’ to complement the collection, which was focused on energy and color. The resulting look was spot-on: It had that fabulous just home from vacay feel, and was fresh and healthy, just perfect for the fresh-faced cosmetics and energetic designs
The idea was to keep this ponytail from looking cold and severe, so Dunkin kept the crown soft and clean, allowing …read more
