What Does a Fairy Smell Like?

What does a fairy smell like?
I’d guess that it would be something in the fruit or floral family. I’d also guess that Paris Hilton thinks the same thing as her new scent, Fairy Dust, has a strong Gardenia note.
I had the opportunity to try Fairy Dust and I expected it to have that same sweet smell that so many celebrity scents have, but it was really more of a floral. One of my friends called it sophisticated and while I’m not sure that I agree with that – it named fairy dust after all – I will say that it does have a more …read more
The Man Plan and Jessica Simpson’s Fancy

Have you heard of the new how-to book, The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild, Not Away , by Whitney Casey? The author shares the tips she’s learned after interviewing 250 men about their preferences in regards to women and dating.
One tip – apparently, men prefer a sweet smelling fragrance to something floral.
Fancy, Jessica Simpson’s new fragrance, would absolutely fit the sweet scent requirement. I had the opportunity to try it recently and I found it to be fruity-sweet at first, but it mellowed with dry down to a sort of warm caramel or toffee scent. I liked it, my mom liked it, and my …read more
Product Review: Elgydium Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
January 2, 2009 by Michelle Smith

My daughter, Bailey, is fascinated by anything that has to do with France. She dreams of moving to Paris one day, so image how excited she was when she found out that we were going to try out a French product that is now available in the US. French toothpaste and toothbrushes from Elgydium. Oo, la, la.
Elgydium has been the leading toothpaste in France for more than 30 years. The Whitening toothpaste uses a Micro-Pulverized Sodium Bicarbonate that whitens more effectively than the usual Sodium Bicarbonate. It’s five times finer and polishes gently. The Anti-Cavity toothpaste uses an extra-high grade …read more

Happy New Year to you!!
I love this holiday. Looking toward the New Year is exciting. It always feels like the promise of better days in within reach. The New Year could bring anything.
Do you make resolutions? I do and I usually only keep a couple, so this year, I’m making them very do-able. Usually I focus on work or family, but this year, in keeping with what I started earlier this Winter, I’m going to include a few Beauty and Style resolutions, as well. Here goes……..

Looking for a perfume that is modern while at the same time reminiscent of ancient Eastern traditions? Aroma M perfumes and oil perfumes smell beautiful, plus they relieve stress and promote good feelings. They are gender-neutral and come in unique, hand-crafted packaging. Aroma M is a niche perfume that was originally only available in select boutiques. It’s now available in the US, the UK, German, China, Japan, and France.

In Search of Pretty Feet: Pedi-Relax Foot Care Line

I’m a barefoot girl, from way back. I’m barefoot indoors, always, and outside, I do my best to get away with flipflops all year. It doesn’t snow where I am from, but it does get frosty. If I’m wearing shoes, than chances are it’s my Asics running shoes.
All of these foot habits – barefootin’ it, constant flipflops, and running – they work together to give me some not so pretty feet. My toes, sure they look fine, I always have a fresh pedicure, but the calluses, well they are another story.
I was delighted to be given the opportunity to try …read more
Product Review: NOU Parfum by Claude Dir, For Como & Brigante
December 22, 2008 by Michelle Smith

Another fragrance that I had the good fortune to sample lately is NOU. Pronounced N-O-U. The signature scent of Como & Brigante, NOU was created by Claude Dir, known world-wide as the creator of perfumes for Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Bijan DNA.
Fragrance notes include: Verbena, Mandarin Zest, Chinese Ginger, Cinnamon, Vanilla Orchid, Pink Roses, and Purple Iris Root.
After wearing it for awhile, what stands out the most is the spiciness of the Ginger and Cinnamon. It definitely has a sexy scent – complex and grown-up, this is nothing like so many of those sweet celebrity fragrances out there now. It …read more
Product Review and Giveaway: butter LONDON Nail Lacquer
December 18, 2008 by Michelle Smith

This week I tried butter LONDON’s 3 Free nail lacquer.
Their polishes contain no Formaldehyde, no Toluene, and no DBP. My girls and I tried three colors: Chancer, Saucy Jack, and La Moss.
La Moss is the color that Amy Adams is wearing on her recent Vanity Fair cover. It’s a rich and sexy shade, looks great for Amy Adams’s pin-up type covershot. I’ve got it on my toes. It’s very dark in the bottle, but is a nice deep wine color when it’s applied. Saucy Jack is a pink-red and Chancer is a bright with glitter. Bay, my teen, likes to …read more
Fragrance Review: GUESS by Marciano
December 16, 2008 by Michelle Smith
I got some new scents to try in the mail this weekend. As usual, my girls fought over who got to open the box. Silly girls. We received GUESS by Marciano, Jessica Simpson’s Fancy, and Paris Hilton’s Fairy Dust. I’ll get to the GUESS first – the reviews for Fancy and Fairy Dust will follow soon.
The GUESS bottle is lovely. It has an interesting shape with a climbing vine and blossom on it. Pretty. I liked the fragrance more than my daughters did, but I think they were blinded by thoughts of smelling like Jessica Simpson. What do those kids …read more
