Estrella Archs or Emanuel Ungaro?

Hold up, wait a minute fashion fans! We may be blaming Lindsay Lohan for the fashion debacle that was Emanuel Ungaro Spring / Summer 2010. But, we may have spoken too soon. Those less than desirable bra tops and skinny pants may have been OKed by Lohan, but do not forget that she had a partner in crime, Estrella Archs. Señorita Archs debuted her Spring /Summer 2010 line today in Paris. But holy cow, friends, her line looks quite similar to the less than stellar pieces that we saw on the Ungaro models just this Sunday.
Yes, it’s true, that the …read more
Tropical Hues from Paris Fashion Week

I admit that the reason I’ve pulled all of these accessories together for today’s post from Paris Fashion Week is that I woke up to two inches on snow on the ground…
Did I feel like covering the cool and elegant neutrals?
No – I wanted bold, brash and cheerful color!
Luckily, several designers have obliged with their Spring & Summer 2010 collections so let’s get to the fashion…
Shiatzy Chen showed exotic-skinned platforms that tied with a feminine bow:
Isn’t that turquoise gorgeous? I’d definitely wear that color next spring.
Marie Bishara went for the brights – really seriously brights!
I don’t think you can get …read more
Weird & Wonderful Shoes from Paris

Footwear has taken a turn for the… interesting during the Spring & Summer 2010 runway shows for Paris Fashion Week!
Of course, the big news is Alexander McQueen’s high heels – let’s face it, how could they not make an impression:
It’s certainly the most distinctive shoe from Paris this week. I have to admit, I do have a couple of questions…
First of all, can you actually walk in them?
And didn’t Christian Louboutin do these a few years back for a movie??
It took me a minute to realize that the decorations on these shoes from Louis Vuitton weren’t Muppets or small, furry …read more
Whimsical Handbags at Paris Fashion Week

I’ve got to admit it – I’m a sucker for a designer who doesn’t take their accessories too seriously!
After all, what are accessories for if not to put a smile on your face when you wear them?
We’ve got to start with Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring & Summer 2010 collection for Chanel:
Interesting carved heels, bright colors and check out the flowers on the handbag. If that doesn’t brighten your day, I’m not quite sure what else would…
Stella McCartney showed a more subdued collection, but check out the detail on this handbag:
I don’t know how practical that folding wooden purse is going to …read more
Sexy Heels on the Runways of Paris

There’s been an interesting mix of shoes showing up on the runway during the Spring & Summer 2010 collections for Paris Fashion Week.
Candy-colored flats and sky-high stiletto heels have shared the runways with strappy platforms and even suede peep-toe boots. Today we’re just having fun with some seriously fierce high heels!
Check out these amazing boots from Barbara Bui:
Now that’s an interesting take on the cage boot – those geometric cutouts make for a striking boot. I think going with a neutral color is a good option for this strong of a style statement – a brighter color could be overkill.

Tribal Jewelry from Paris Fashion Week

Designers showing their Spring & Summer collections during Paris Fashion Week have kept up the tribal feel in their jewelry that we’ve seen from other fashion weeks.
Barbara Bui used lots of necklaces to make a big impact for her runway show:
This is definitely a look that can translate well in the real world – of course, you may want to consider just wearing a couple of necklaces instead of half a dozen…
Lanvin kept to their ultra-embellished aesthetic with their lush jewelry:
With everything from peacock feathers to sterling silver motifs, semi-precious stones to antiqued metal chains, these jewelry pieces are sure …read more
Paris Fashion Week: Emanuel Ungaro S/S 10

Today was the day. Lindsay Lohan and Estrella Arch’s rushed Spring / Summer 2010 Ungaro collection hit the runway in Paris. Were we going to see a splash of youthful designs that would make all tweens, teens, and twenty -somethings run as fast as they can to Ungaro to pick up the pieces? Critics and fans alike are sadly saying no. The collection was overly dated and in my opinion, really showed the bad side of Lindsay Lohan’s “creative” styling. Lindsay can put together a great outfit, but she can also put together the less desirable looks (a la bandeau …read more
Wacky Headwear from Paris Fashion Week

Runway shows can be as much about creating a giant spectacle as they are about the clothes…
Some of the designers from Paris Fashion Week are certainly proving that!
Check out some of these extreme, um – hats? Headwear? Sculpture? Gardening experiments? from the Spring & Summer 2010 collections:
How many of us played with pots, pans and collanders as kids? I bet you’ve got a photo stashed away somewhere with a strainer on your head, right?
Do we want to wear them as adults too?
Hat by South Korean designer Lie Sang Bong.
I have to admit, I have a peculiar requirements for hats.

Yummy Accessories from Paris Fashion Week

Paris is the last of the “Big Four” fashion weeks, and quite often the most extreme and avant garde of the four.
The designers have kicked off their Spring & Summer 2010 collections with a bang – so let’s get to the good stuff already… bring on the accessories!
I must admit to not having a particular theme for this post – I’m simply sharing some of my favorite early picks from the runway. So what’s making me drool right now?
I’ve been a fan of Issey Miyake for many years now – even though the fashion sometimes takes a turn into the …read more
Obi Belts and Big Bows from Balenciaga

I know that fashion week is over, but I’ve got a few more special accessory picks that I’d love to share
Nicolas Ghesquière created wide leather belts that tied in front for Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter collection:
image: Newscom
To me, they look like they were inspired by the Japanese obi belt, part of the traditional kimono. Obis have become a trendy accessory, worn with western clothing. They’re flexible (most obi belts will fit a wide range of sizes) and a great way to add definition to your waist.
Traditionally, obis were made out of fabric, but there are some fantastic ones made out …read more
