It’s snowy, sloppy and hovering right around freezing today. The roads and sidewalks are covered with slush – there’s no way you can wear a pair of fashionable boots today, right?

Okay, I was browsing through Bluefly when Christian Louboutin’s name caught my eye.

Louboutin – on sale – how could I resist?

Until I came across these babies...

My first reaction was…

Hooker boots – really, really expensive hooker boots!

They’re on sale for $1260.00.

Let’s face it – how many “real” women can pull these off?

Is this not look best left as a concept for the runway?

I’m sure a hip and/or trendy nineteen year old in a size 00 could pull these off… but I don’t think I could even pull them on…

I was a horse-crazy teenager, but always had a terrible time finding riding boots that would fit correctly. It’s not very comfortable to have numb legs from the knee down!

I ended up getting elastic gussets sewn into the insides of my boots – which is a great solution if you have access to a trust-worthy cobbler or shoe repair person.

Thankfully though, there are more options now. Duo Boots offers a wide range of boots in wide calf sizes (you just supply your shoe size and calf width and they show you all the boots that will fit) You can finally indulge in lovely, fashionable boots without cutting off circulation!

I love the easy to wear low heel – and the option for suede if patent leather is a little too flashy for you.

The Zamora:

Clean, classic lines – perfect for pairing with a knee length A-line skirt.

The Messina:

Slouchy boots are still hot (at least according to the number of comments I get asking about them!) and these ones are a great option for us wider-calf girls
