Betsey Johnson is Retiring?

Betsey Johnson is one of my favorite designers these days (not that it’s a big surprise!) so I have to admit to feeling a pang when she announced that she’s considering retirement. Luckily, the brand will continue, with Eric Satori as the possible successor. He has previously designed for Azzedine Alaïa, Vera Wang and Herve Leger.

As long as he can continue to design whimsical, stylish clothes and accessories - I’m excited to see what he can bring to the table! After all, he’s got some pretty cool shoes to fill…

If so, you can save 20% off their marked-down items, but just until June 28th (this Sunday).

I’m not sure if the “Cricket” satchel is on sale yet, but that’s definitely my choice for a yummy handbag to snag on sale!

It’s made from leather, with a contrasting patent trim. And if the pink is a little too… pink for you, it also comes in a sleek black version or a muted white and beige.

Jimmy Choo Patent Leather Malena Tote

Summer is a great time to add a punch of color to your wardrobe, but it doesn’t always have to be with your purse. I know I’ve mentioned that adding a bright purse is a great way to add color, however, I have also said that there are no rules to fashion during the summer. So, neutral colors are also a go. Also a go is this Jimmy Choo Brown Patent Leather Malena Bag from bluefly.com.

Oh so shiny! I love patent leather anything. Well, maybe not from head to toe, but I do have several pairs of patent leather heels and when I do need to wear heels I will choose the patent leather heels over the matte heels anyway. So, it’s no wonder I would choose (or recommend) this brown patent leather tote from Jimmy Choo either. It has suede trim with moleskin lining with zip, patch pockets and amazing design details from top to bottom. It measures 14½’ inches at wide by 9¼ inches’ tall at the center by 7½” deep. It is currently $1,580.

Choosing The Right Handbag

As many of you handbag addicts, aficionados and lovers know, half the battle is choosing the perfect handbag. You want a handbag that has stylish good looks, one that’s well made as well as something that you will get a lot of millage on. With so many different handbags to choose from it can get a bit overwhelming. The best way to select the right handbag for you is to ask yourself the following questions…
What do you carry with you on a daily basis? Are you the basic wallet, keys and cellphone kind of girl or is there anything you don’t carry? If you only carry the basic essentials you might just need a clutch or wristlet. If you need something more substantial to hold your lunch, a pair of flats or files a tote would suffice.

What’s your personal style? Are you trendy, super casual or classic? Do you work all day and go meet up with friends right after? Or do you mostly run errands, are active or have to chase kids around? Choose and handbag that will fit into your lifestyle. Try not to get something that requires a lot of care or has intricate beading details when all you’ll be doing for the day is going to a themepark. A handbag should not only complement your overall look but the situation too.
What’s important to you in a handbag? Do you need a lot of pockets? Do you want something roomy? Or do you only care about style and brand names? Look for a handbag that will fit your essentials and just a little bit extra. There are lots of styles that provide adjustable and removable straps as well as handbag that convert from day to evening. As for material leather is a great option as it goes with pretty much any outfit and if well-made will last a long time. However, a delicate lambskin leather handbag isn’t practical when your destination is the beach. Fabric, canvas and nylon materials are great for casual, errand-running days.
What’s your body shape? Are you athletic, curvy or tall? You’ll be surprised to know, your frame plays a big role in your handbag selection and whether or not it complements you. Choose a handbag that is the opposite of your shape. For example, if you’re tall and slender a round or squarish bag would be a good complement to your figure. Thus, long, slim and structured handbag shapes work best for those with a curvy figures.
Another important trait in a choosing the right handbag is the colour. A plain, one colour handbag is the best way to go. Neutral shades work best; black, brown, cream - you can’t go wrong with these and they’re always in style. To add a little fun to your collection, try a colourful handbag that will go well with and or match most of your clothes.
No matter what your answers or personal tastes and style, the basic rule is to keep your handbag organized. Try to carry only the things you’ll need. As you may already know, overly heavy handbags can lead to neck strain, back aches and sore shoulders. Or you can chuck all the “rules” out the window and buy what you want no matter what the style or shape. After all, it’s your money and you will be the one to use it so, know what works for you, your style and of course, your budget. Happy handbag shopping!

Feminine Colors from Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs has added some lovely color accents to the iconic Louis Vuitton line of handbags and accessories during his Fall/Winter Paris Fashion Week show.
I have to admit, I wouldn’t wear the bunny ears that his models wore, but I do like the bold, fresh colors that he’s added to the LV line:

Of course, the question is - is that pink ruffle just too much pink for you?
How about going with the more restrained, but still fun, red piping and accents on this one?

Or keep the colored ruffle, but turn it inside, so you just get a little flash of color:

Or can I get all three please?
