The Fashion Show: And The Winner Is…Anna!

Congratulations, Anna!! I’ve been a huge fan of her work over the course of this season of The Fashion Show, especially in the later episodes where you really started to see her designs develop into something special. I’m delighted to see Anna win this week – with 31% over the judges pick. That’s a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!

Let’s look back at some of Anna’s best work this season…

There was the chic, work friendly pencil skirt and sheer top (I love the updo her model is sporting too!)…

Then there was the sweet little pink jacket paired with an Alexander McQueen-esque dress that makes my heart get all fluttery…

Early on she wowed with this snuggly looking Winter jacket…

And of course I’ve raved repeatedly about how much I adore this adorable polka dotted party dress!

The Fashion Show: Season Finale Part 2!

Who did America vote for on The Fashion Show? Tonight, we’ll find out. All the designers from Season 1 of The Fashion Show return this evening to gossip and recount all the mishaps and scandals that happened throughout the show. Did Johnny really create a knock off? Who’s the biggest crybaby? What happened when the cameras stopped rolling?

There will surely be some funny stories and things we learn about the show tonight…but the most important thing we’ll find out…who wins!

That’s right, it’s all come down to this…Issac, Kelly and Fern will unveil the winner who will take home the grand prize of $125,000. Will it be Daniella? Anna? James-Paul? I know who I picked, but it’s in the hands of millions of voters to make the final call.

TFS Season Finale: Anna’s Collection

How adorable was Anna last night up on the runway presenting her collection for the season finale of The Fashion Show? Okay, I might be a little biased because I think she should be the clear winner here (and have thought so for a while now!), but I really have to say I was very impressed with the beautiful clothes she created.

I could see these clothes in a high end store or on someone walking down the street – everything just makes sense. I wasn’t surprised at all to hear from the judges that several people in the audience mentioned they would buy the clothes…but I was disappointed that the judges didn’t share my level of enthusiasm. Since it will ultimately be the American public who decides, I’m still holding out hope that Anna will be the winner!

TFS Season Finale: James-Paul’s Collection

My perception of James-Paul really changed a lot over the course of season on The Fashion Show. At first I thought he would be at the top of every episode; he started out so strong. But then there were some designs that were rather disappointing as each episode progressed. For his final collection, James-Paul did a nice job creating clothes that look comfortable (though a bit complicated…even if the shades of black and grey were a little boring after the fourth or fifth model strutted down the runway.

As far as the judges were concerned, they weren’t overly enthusiastic, but liked James-Paul’s collection enough to still choose him over Reco. What do you think? Did they make the right decision?

TFS Season Finale: Daniella’s Collection

The judges seemed most impressed and excited with Daniella’s collection last night on The Fashion Show. Totally consistent with the type of clothes we’ve seen from Daniella throughout the season, I do agree her work was very strong. One thing they did comment on was that her clothes tend to seem a little unfriendly for figures that aren’t meant for the runways of Milan and Paris…will her designs resonate with the curvy population of America who is voting for the grand prize winner?

Even though Daniella has been a bit of a pill throughout the season, her work is almost always the best out of the bunch. I wonder if voters will hold her attitude issues against her when they make their decision…!

TFS Season Finale: Reco’s Collection

Last night on The Fashion Show, Pt. 1 of the season finale aired – each of the four designers showcased their best work in a final runway challenge. Of course…as we told you yesterday, not all of the designers were going to be eligible for the final vote from America.

Well, Reco’s collection unfortunately didn’t make the grade. After having some trouble fitting the models into his super teeny designs, Reco presented his work to the audience and judges. Overall, I liked it…but I didn’t love it. The really strange dress with fringe everywhere was probably the low point for me. There’s innovative, then there’s just plain strange.

The judges chastised him for the designs looking “unfinished”. I would tend to agree with that. He made a good effort, but at this stage…it wasn’t enough. Reco is out of the competition.

The Fashion Show Final 4: Daniella

Winning Designs: 3
Considers Her Style To Be: Edgy, with a bit of rockstar flair
Worked With: Luca Luca, Les Chiffoniers and Alexander McQueen
We Loved: The gorgeous homage to Christian Dior.
We Hated: The cropped floral pants that destroyed an otherwise pretty outfit.
Final Thoughts: Daniella has been very strong in this competition…clearly she is in it to win it. But is that enough? She has been strong, or the strongest, in a number of elimination challenges, and taken home a few prizes in the mini-challenge competitions too. Even though her attitude and teamwork could still use a lot of work, Daniella should present a very strong final collection – the other designers better make sure they pull out all the stops if there is going to be any chance of keeping up with Daniella.

Kooba Loves Bravo’s NYC Prep

If you’re a fan of Bravo’s latest show NYC Prep, a show following the lives of these ultra rich prep school kids (think Real Housewives of New York but younger), then you’ll probably take a liking to these handbags. Kooba has created a series of handbags based on each of the girls’ personalities. And if you watch the series, each of the characters carries their namesake bags. Clever advertising, no?

Kooba Camille Bag in Navy was designed for Camille, the girl with super high standards and has her whole life planned out. The bag is made of leather with a wrap and bar detail. It measures 14.5″ Hx 15″W x 6″D and is fully lined with zip pockets and two interior cell phone pockets.

Kooba Jessie Bag in Aubergine was designed for Jessie, the girl who is the leader of the group and the go-getter. The tote is made out of suede in a beautiful aubergine colour. It closes with a magnetic snap and it measures 15″ H x 14.5″W x 4.5″D. The interior is fully lined with two interior cell phone pockets and a zip pocket.

Kooba Kelli Bag in Berry was designed for Kelli, the aspiring singer who lives with her brother on the Upper East Side while her parents live in the Hamptons. The pretty berry shade of this leather bag is a great way to give your outfits a pop of colour. It measures 12.25″ H x 14″ Wx 4.75″ D and features gold accents and zip pockets, and cell phone pockets on the interior.

Kooba Taylor Bag in Teal was designed for Taylor, the smart social climber with boys at her beck and call. The large leather tote measures 14″H x 16″W x 5.5″D with subtle seaming details and gold hardware. It’s a pretty teal shade that works for any season.

Considers His Style To Be: Sexy and Ultra Glamorous
We Loved: The curvy work combo he created for the plus-size challenge.
We Hated: The candy colored evening gown from last week.
Final Thoughts: Even though Reco can be prone to drama and outbursts when he is under stress, he has created some lovely pieces throughout the competition. At times he can be a little out there, but no matter how short the skirt or tight the shirt, Reco’s designs are always wearable.

We Loved: Her perky little polka dot party dress.
We Hated: The tacky big floral evening gown with the oversized bow.
Final Thoughts: Anna is the favorite from this crowd. Putting aside the weak showing with last week’s evening gown, she consistently presents the kind of clothes girls love to wear. They look good, transition from day to evening easily, and are effortlessly sexy and chic. I can’t wait to see a full collection this week from Anna. Let’s hope she doesn’t get nervous with all the pressure!
