The more and more I take a look at the Fall 2009 looks the more I think I should have held on to my second grade wardrobe. The leggings, the dresses, the sweaters, the velvet, the ankle boots….where do I stop? It’s literally like I’m traveling back to 1993. All I need to find is my cassette of Mariah Carey’s Dreamlover that I made.

As my mother and I sat and watched the BET Awards last night we commented about many things, ranging from the people we didn’t know, to the awards, to the fashion.
And, oh no! The fashion throw backs…the shoulder pads. Or, as the fashionistas are calling them strong shoulders.
Maybe if the designers call the trend something different no one will know we’re bringing something we’ve all tried twenty some odd years to forget about. It’ll be just like straight leg jeans. We won’t call them straight leg jeans, we’ll call them pencil jeans!
